real or not? this seller is either very lucky (to have found 2), or.........

not really sure why Cobb would put the date on a matchcase, ditto for the badge

I'd take a pass. The seller doesn't make claim they belonged to Cobb.

New engraving on a supposedly old item. No tarnish in the letters on the 'badge'. This shows that the engraving is new and has not had a chance to naturally tarnish as would be expected on an eighty+ year old item.

Feel sorry for the buyer.

Also, I don't get the bidding strategy by either of the 2 high bidders (122) & (2230)

122 enters a high bid of at least 660 on 12/9, then 2230 chips away the last hour making 15 bids, going up $25 at a time, raising the selling price from 300 to 660. 2 geniuses.

2230 also has 19 bid retractions in the past 6 months. Makes you wonder if he bids up the high bidder as up to the high bid, then once he hits it, he cancels his highest bid, thus the reason for bidding up in increments.
