I guess word spreads slowly but this stamp is 100% Marquard....

I guess this isn't a ROSE and a Baby Ruth; guess it's a RUBE and a Baby Ruth

Thanks for the heads up Leon
I was watching the one in PWCC graded a PSA 6 up for sale.
Maybe one of you guys should ALERT them on that fact.

Chris,
Not looking to start up with you, but PSA has been known (once a year?? :) ) to make a mistake.
And I could be wrong but when it comes to these unusual items, I would go with Leon over PSA.

This stamp has been known to show Marquard for at least five years, so yes, it seems that word spreads slowly. I'm certain there is a thread or two discussing it in this very forum. Both PSA and PWCC should know better--not sure about the seller in Leon's link, who seems to be relying on PSA, PWCC and the Standard Catalog.

Took me a while in the archives to find anything, but found this thread:
Yeah back in 2002. Back then this board was so informative.

Here's the thread I was thinking of:

and here's the pic in that thread that pretty much seals the deal:

On page 619 of the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards it shows this stamp as being Rube Marquard! So Leon is right PSA is wrong! Have a Merry Christmas everyone! Marc

It seems at least one large dealer will stand by the description as "Ruth". Of course I couldn't disagree more but let's see what our members say with a poll.....Marquard or Ruth....

Oops, I voted before seeing the "evidence",,,,,,,obviously Marquard. Strike 1 Ruth vote from the record.

im by NO means an expert - but I do collect ruth, IMO that isn't him.

also I have seen that stamp a few times before for sale and would not bid on it, not cause its not interesting but cause its not ruth.

It clearly is not him, nor could it ever be him under any circumstances seeing as this image is clearly identified as Marquard.
