On Sunday Nov. 15, 2015 Kirk Cousins completed 20 passes out of 25 attempts for 324 yards and 4 TD's. He was the first Redskins QB to throw for 300 yards and have a QB rating of over 150 since Sammy Baugh accomplished the feat on October 31st of 1948 when Baugh completed 17 passes on 24 attempts for 446 yards and 4 TD's against the Boston Yanks.

The 446 yards through the air was a Redskin record until Brad Johnson threw for 471 yards in 1999 against the 49ers!

All hail Sammy!

We know about the interceptions and the punting, but what really has impressed me about this guy over time is that he could hit, and I've never heard anyone mention that part of his game. There's so little game film available, and of that, I've only seen a little, but I've definitely noticed a pattern. I haven't seen other QBs/Tailbacks of that era coming up to the line making plays like a linebacker, but I've seen Baugh do it multiple times. Players are usually hard to find in that grainy b&w footage, but not Baugh - it feels like he's wherever the ball is whether its offense, defense, or special teams.

He's my favorite from that era and being a Texan makes it that much better.

And it seemed like Bowman never made a bad card of him; especially the '50. But since it was posted, here's a '51.

This is an awesome thread and I agree that Sammy had some of the best looking bowman cards!

Here's a photo of Baugh from 1937. I like the leather helmet.

I wil second the 51 Bowman. Great thread. Awesome to see some vintage football getting some props. Sammy is one of my favorites.

I'm estimating this to be from around 1947 based on the uniform and address.

That's a great advertising piece - hadn't seen that before.

I have a contract that he and G.P. Marshall signed for endorsement purposes

and a couple items not posted yet

this may be the rarest of the Baugh items, and I don't own one - just this scan

Very cool Slingin' Sammy items! A few years back I picked up the original painting of Sam in a classic pose done by Chuck Gillies for the Upper Deck Masterpiece set. One of my favorites!

Amazing pieces everyone! This is not one that I own but I hope to get one day...a Sammy Baugh Granger advertising display sign. I just love the graphics!

Here's a link to a better image. Didn't realize that it would show up so tiny.
