Mark is being too nice. SCP needs to either remove the lot or amend the description to identify the subject as a random bearded man holding something other than a baseball. BTW, I believe a younger Pete O'Brien appears in the circa-1859 Atlantics CdV that sold in the Heritage summer live auction.

Nice work Mark. They should probably pull the item. If it were in my auction I would.

After further research I have identified the subject as Dy Aphram, the inventor of the first IUD.

That's the funniest thing I have read in months-well done!

Mark,

I'm curious to know if you believe O'Brien is depicted in the c. 1860 Atlantics Cdv? To my knowledge he was a member of the team during the entire period the Cdv could have been taken. Assuming then he was a member, it would be very unusual if he was not present when the team was photographed.

Corey--I thought O'Brien was standing, far right. Mark, what do you think?

That's what I think too.

That certainly could be him - I don't see anything I can point to to say it's not him. I'm just not sure. I wish we had better exemnplars.

He is actually one of the Smith Bros. holding an early, less successful example of one of his cough drops...........
