I think it's a highly underrated set and I just love the look of the cards. I'm in love with this set. I only have this one card. Obviously the condition leaves a lot to be desired, but I got it for $5 at a yard sale. I would love to see any Uncle Jack's cards any of you have, especially a nicer Foxx or a copy of the Ruth.

I like these cards too.

Here's my only one, I wouldn't mind more but they get expensive in nicer condition...and I guess I can wait until until I finish off a few other accumulation projects. Still, I enjoy this card, given to me as gift from my wife maybe 20 years back:)

Scan is small since I extracted the photo from my registry. The real scan is not on my iPAD:(

If it's not T206, not many people will care about it. I personally love 1930s regional cards but the majority of pre-war collectors just ignore them.

I have never seem these. What's the story with the hole punches? Redemption offer on the back?

These are great for type collectors, I've always like them and have had a few over the years. Not sure if it's changed...at one time green seemed to be the toughest to come by.

Hi Dan, I think you've seen this one before. I'd like to get an untrimmed version, but they're crazy expensive.

They were distributed in single-card glassine sleeves with a coupon and piece of gum, primarily in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Uncle Jacks were never hole-punched ala George C. Miller for redemptions. Printed in a variety of tints and *I think* some of the shots were borrowed from the Baseball Magazine photos or some other premium. At one point I had 7-8 cards, but sold them off later. Very pretty cards.

The cards are blank-backed and no indication of who Uncle Jack is.
(Unless this is on the previously mentioned glassine envelope which I have never seen)

I have an Uncle Jack in Arizona, so I thanked him for producing these cool cards despite him being born 3 years after the cards were distributed.:p

Love the Ruth and the Hack! These came in 4 colors and I believe it's true that green is the toughest. Ruth is the most valuable card, of course, and the Foxx is the next most sought after.

No, the card isn't supposed to be hole punched. I don't know why somebody did that, but I'm glad they did, because it would have cost me A LOT more than 5 bucks otherwise!

Thank you for those awesome links! I had tried to search for an Uncle Jack's thread on here before I started one. I must have searched wrong.

It was really cool to see a better conditioned Foxx in a different color. The day I bought my Foxx at that yard sale, there were a couple of others available too. Ever since I found out what the Foxx was, I've regretted not buying the whole lot.

Google is the way to go, as always. Their search results are much better than what the forum software provides. I searched on "Uncle Jacks" using the quotes and up popped the N54 links. Since this is a public forum, Google regularly crawls the site, then does its magic. And we pay nothing!

Here's one I used to own, along with a glassine pack+coupon+gum (note two sticks) that I still have somewhere:

Agreed, mucho nice. There are several graded at that level or higher on ebay now, however, each with a very healthy price tag, if you can tolerate SGC.

If I am not mistaking some of the ones with the high prices have been there for years, or at least there was a group of very high grade ones that were. Here is one of each color from the past collection of cards. I always thought the black backgrounds were the toughest but that isn't a scientific guess, just a SWAG.

Thanks Leon! I only knew of 4 colors, never heard of black.

I have only seen 2-3 black background cards. They are difficult to find.

Picked up this Averill, still in wrapper. Removed it from wrapper to take scans, and noticed the coupon still present, with what appears to be a stick or two of gum/candy in between the card and coupon.
Any idea of value? Thanks!
Rob
