Check out the Ebay listing for an auction going on for the '14 Cracker Jack of
Zach Wheat, dealer is mysport. Caveat emptor, but I did learn that CJ cards were dipped directly into vats of caramel. Fascinating

The seller does have a nice selection of those sketch cards and apparently loves the UFC wrestling.

It's a 1915 and something about it seems off to me - like a reprint. Knowing that these are very thin, hard to see it staying up so rigid in the easel like that. Card stock just looks thicker to me - or perhaps that's that caramel residue. Looks more like it was soaked too many times.

It's not real anyway.

I believe that it is a Dover reprint that had caramel applied and then bleached. The dealer should be coated in caramel (not tar) and feathered.

If it were real, the 1915's which this is a copy of were thicker stock then the '14s.

Where to start with this one?
The seller describes the card as "brand new"
He says it was dipped in caramel
He shows the back, which is amazingly free of caramel residue

and these are just the things that I myself, who knows very little about this set, can see are wrong.

He says "THIS ONE MAY BE THE BEST EXAMPLE OF THIS CARD THAT EXISTS TODAY", and he compares it favorably to the PSA 4 pictured in the listing, but the front of this card looks so scuffed and worn that it would be lucky to get a PSA 1. Does this guy think that only corners matter in grading cards? Is that why he scuffed it so much, to make it "look old", while leaving the corners sharp?

And what's with having the picture of that PSA 4 as part of the listing? I know he says in the description that "The PSA 4, in the last picture is not included in this listing", but that's just shady.

And what on earth is with the title of the listing: "ZACK ZACKARY WHEAT 1914 CRACKER JACK CARD AUTHENTIC 1/1 TOPPS RED #52 BROOKLYN"??? What does Topps have to do with this card, or "1/1", which implies that it's unique???

I know, I'm shooting fish in a barrel here, so I'll stop now.

Keyword spamming. His listing will come up when people do an ebay search on 52 Topps or 1/1 modern insert cards. Keyword spamming is against ebay rules.

So I know they'll do something about this.

Actually, the ebay drones would likely pull the listing quicker for keyword spamming than trying to tell them it's counterfeit.

It appears they know rulers better than pre-war cards.
