Unfortunately there are a lot of cowards in this world and the innocent pay the price. Hopefully the hostages will make it to safety.

ABC News just reported that something like 100 hostages in the theater were killed. Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

I don't wish to turn this political either, but pray that we never institute the repressive gun laws of Europe that allow these attacks to occur unfettered.

Let's have thoughts for the victims and their families and hope we can find justice for them.

Yes if not for those pesky gun laws it would be like a die hard movie where all the bad guys die and the good guy lives.

I have an exchange student staying with us for the year and she lives on the German and French boarder while attending school in France. Needless to say she is quite rattled and is very upset. She showed me her Facebook page and a number of her friends were in Paris today but thankfully have been marked as "safe".

This stuff is just crazy. I am lost for words at this time.

Kiss your spouse. Hug your kids. Tell your family and friends how much they mean to you.

My heart and mind is with everyone who experiences suffering, no matter when, where, or how it finds them.

Best regards,

Eric

Right. Because nothing like that has happened here at multiple schools, colleges and whatnot. Got it. Get a clue.

Then don't.

Not trying...sorry.

I know it's a sensitive subject. Should not have gone there, just upset about this. Forgive me.

My parents told me two things to never talk about in in public...religion or politics because you will never change a stance. Totally violated that.

Please explain how those 100+ heavy metal concert attendees and the 30 restaurant diners would not have died if not for gun laws in Europe. Makes no sense. Even if all the deceased had revolvers strapped to their hips, how would they have stood up to trained killers with AK-47s.

Makes no sense...

At least they would have had a chance if they were armed; Unarmed= No chance and all they could do is run. These guys usually attack places where they know people don't have guns.

Why don't you? He spoke his opinion. Just because he didn't agree with you means nothing.

He shouldn't have to apologize for his opinion or feel shame. The ignorance of people is amazing.

This gets to the root of why these topics are (somewhat) taboo here. Logic, cogent arguments, and relevant observations have no place in an emotional discussion.

Seems like a moot point. You can't carry a gun into a concert venue and you can't carry a gun into a sports venue. So I'm not sure what there is to say regarding gun laws. No one would have a gun there even if they owned one. Also no one should live life thinking they have to carry a gun around just in case someone tries to kill them. It's the presence of guns that creates that fear not the lack of them.

You don't seriously want to engage me, or likely anyone else, on the subject of ignorance.

Have you ever compared the gun death rates in Europe vs. the United States.
Gun deaths in Europe are 1% of the US.

Hey Folks
It was a tragedy and this debate is going no where on this board. It can be, or is, political in nature. Let's hope all of the affected can find peace. It was a dreadful situation. I guess we can try the debate in the watercooler section and see if it can remain somewhat civil. I retain the right to close the thread though.
