Thanks to the help of net54 all-star Dan Bretta I was able to reunite my Bill Carrigan signed M101-2 with the original letter and envelope that Dr. Steen sent to Bill. I plan on matting these together. Thanks Dan!

Hope you like the Gehringer. He had the nicest writing of any hall of famer. Threw an extra one in there for ya too :)

Those are awesome! I was lucky enough to pick up 9 of those signed M101-2 from Doc Steen's collection. Unfortunately, none of the letters lined up with any of those names. :(

There are more...I would guess that I only won about half of them when they were on ebay.

I have:

Wagner
Archer
Tesreau
Reiser

...and a reunion certainly would be pretty cool for any of them.

Tom, this is what I have for Tesreau. He asked someone to send a note back to Steen.

That letter regarding Teasreau is great! I can imagine a bunch of college kids trying to hit a spitball!

On the date that letter was written, the Yankees won their 35th game of the year, to only 9 losses, en route to a 106-45 season, and a World Series sweep of the Cincinnati Reds. Even DiMaggio aside, I can see why the author felt the Yankees had all the stars...

Many thanks to net54 good guys Sean Brennan and Dan Bretta for allowing me to reunite the Dr. Steen Johnny Vander Meer signed M114 Sporting News premium and response letter and return envelope from Vandy agreeing to sign it in 1941 at Spring Training in FL.

I initially missed the opportunity to pick these up for my Vandy collection, but Sean and Dan helped me reunite these cool pieces once again. Neat!

Here is a letter from Dr. Steen to Zach Wheat. Wheat has written back to Dr. Steen on the back of his letter. Then here is the signed Sporting News that Wheat signed for him.

It's been more than a decade now since Doc Steen and I first crossed paths. Before we knew him as an autograph collector I kept finding more images with him as a ball player and became intrigued with his story. I actually started a thread about him on the memorabilia side 10 years ago, but photo bucket in their greed is holding my images hostage so I'm going to post some of them in this thread. I thought some of you guys chasing down his collection might like to know more about him.

Here he is with a semi-pro team in Wahoo, Nebraska. This postcard is actually written by Clarence to his father.
