If you are thinking of bidding on the Ted Williams "Game Used" jersey that is about to go off at an auction house called James D Julia, I strongly encourage you to think twice.

All of the personal correspondence from Williams about the jersey are to someone named "Barry". That should be your first clue that something is rotten in Denmark.

The lot includes a photo of the two teams (American League and National League) who played in the 1945 Navy World Series at Pearl Harbor in September and October of that year. The jerseys worn in that photo do seem to match the one listed for sale. Other Navy jerseys worn by Williams during WW2 look nothing like it, so it would have pretty much had to have been from this one series. That is an assumption I am making here, so I do make that one caveat.

Please look at the following link top right side of page 212:

https://books.google.com/books?id=OYMvAQAAQBAJ&pg=PR5&lpg=PR5&dq=1945+%22navy+world+series%22&source=bl&ots=VeKVPnUL4F&sig=668HsNJ0zrEnPg7t9DZyUDSZ3xI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CE8Q6AEwCWoVChMImre_6bzJxwIViWweCh0L3QPm#v=on epage&q=1945%20%22navy%20world%20series%22&f=false

It says "Ted Williams, incidentally, wore No. 23 - not No. 9 - and Musial wore No. 14".

Of course, the jersey in today's auction is his usual number 9.

To me, this looks 100% like yet another Barry Halper special. I just hope that no one here gets rooked by it.

Sold for $4500 plus the juice.

Somebody is in for a rude awakening when they try to get that thing authenticated methinks.
