I normally don't grade cards, but I recently acquired some nice Jeter RCs I though had a chance at 10s. One was graded 9 and the other got a 5?!?!

I have the card in hand and still can't see any issues. I looked at it under a loupe before sending in and saw nothing wrong.

Am I missing something? Or is this a classic example of PSA dropping the ball.

This is pretty much why I don't submit. Guess I don't know the grading game well enough.

The card is for sale, by the way, if anyone is interested.

I don't see anything from the scan of the front that makes me think something is wrong; may be worth a crack and resubmit. I would not send it in for review currently as a 5.

I'd definitely crack it if I were to resubmit. But that's the game that I hate playing. Paying for two submissions for someone to tell me how a card looks. The PSA 10 payoff was just too tempting on this one and this grade really backfired on me.

That is brutal. You have my sympathies. '93 Topps Jeters tend to have issues with the dark green background but even that looks flawless. I wonder what they saw, if anything to knock it down to a 5.

I have one of these lined up for my next submission and now I'm terrified.

I thought this was the better of the two I submitted and the other one got a 9. I'm pretty much at a loss as to where this grade came from.

How much do you want for it? By the way that's exactly why I don't play the graded game.

If the card came back an EX 5 there is probably a minor wrinkle or line indent that is very difficult to see. Happens fairly frequently especially if you buy raw vintage graded NMMT by some dealers.
