I recently acquired the below cut signed by Ruth & Gehrig from a local estate auction. My dilemma now is trying to get it authenticated. According to my calculations, it would cost roughly $600 to go through PSA and almost as much for SGC - that's too much of a gamble for me to take on something I'm not 100% certain is real. That's where I'm asking for your assistance - based on my limited knowledge, I think its legitimate, but what do you all think?
It appears to be cut out of a page of a book and the signatures are in pencil.
Please let me know your thoughts, and if you think its real, what do you think the value would be? If I get it authenticated I plan on selling it.
Thanks!

I don't believe they are real.

Does anything in particular stand out to you that makes you say they aren't real? Just trying to educate myself.

The fact that they're very slowly drawn and (particularly the Gehrig) are distinctly different from genuine signatures.

Okay, I couldn't tell that they were drawn slowly. That's why I wanted to post it here. Thanks for the feedback so far!

Just from seeing examples in countless auction catalogs, the Gehrig doesn't look great to me.
The "authenticators" would charge $600? Really? Screw them....what a joke of a "profession."

I can tell by your answer that you are hoping for the best, but the Gehrig is not even close due to very slowly drawn and many other issues. The Babe Ruth is slightly closer, but not much. David is very good with Gehrig and Ruth and I very much agree with his opinion. Hopefully you can get your money back. Jason

Those sigs are something you would find over at Roach's Korner.

Well, I didn't pay a whole lot so I'm not totally devastated. I found it hidden in a mostly vintage toy auction that I knew nothing about and was hoping I found a hidden gem.
Yeah, according to PSA they charge $300 each for premium signers so it would be roughly $600 total. What a rip off is right. By the sound of the responses so far I'm glad I didn't submit them. SGC I believe would be about $250-$300 to have it authenticated. Better, but still very expensive.
Thanks again for the responses everybody, even if they aren't positive ones for me!

I was taught at an early age to always BEWARE of any Ruth or Gehrig especially if in pencil. Another "estate sale" find I see.
