Title says it all. Post some cards of MLB stars/players brothers who didnt quite share the talent/fame of there siblings.

Ill start with Marty Walsh, younger brother of Big Ed Walsh. A good pitcher himself who never quite made it to the bigs. He did win 30 games in the Virginia League in 1908 for Danville though.

I recall once listening to an interview of Tony Gwynn in which he had such high
praise of his brother, even going so far as to say Chris was the better baseball
player between the two brothers. Maybe Chris was better, but it never really
panned out that way.

This thread has got to be a great boost to the egos of the "other" brother(s).

Ramon Martinez was actually a very good pitcher...didn't get the hype that his younger brother did but the guy was solid in his own right. Went 20-6 one year, was 135-88 lifetime with a no-hitter under his belt.

Sandy Alomar was in the same bucket...he was a 6x All-star and fairly solid player in his own right.

And Gaylord won 23 that year. But that's not the record, it's held by the Dean boys. The Niekros of course hold the career record.

Anyone have a card of Mike Corcoran? Allowed 14 runs in his only start back in 1884 for the White Stockings. I have a card or two of his brother, but none for the older Corcoran

Here's a cabinet with Zach, Mack, and Basil Wheat. Oldest brother (Zack) went on to become a HOFer, middle brother (Mack) played 6 seasons in the Major Leagues, while youngest brother (Basil) played C and OF in the minor leagues for several years (at least according to SABR).

Even with a murdering brother that only played 3 years I think it is safe to say that Bill's career was the under achieving career. Even with Marty's mental issues teams found ways to keep him in the line up until the mental issues finally took him and his family down. Where as Bill, in a 11 year career, only hit above .200 once (and that was still a low .227 in 1903).

I wouldn't call Sandy Alomar Jr. Underachieving he played 20 years batted well above his weight and for what it's worth (if anyone believes this is a defense) he was a 6 time all-star
