Found this old photo. It APPEARS that is a baseball bat on the should of the man in the front?

And they are all wearing award ribbons which I know were common in the early 1900's.

Anyone want to share thoughts or opinions? Im not sure where to start with this photo.

That is a bat, and there is also a baseball glove bottom left. There appears to be two generations of men. Perhaps fathers and sons? I don't think it's really baseball related beyond the gathering brought some equipment to the 'picnic' for some reason.

I agree very hard to tell. Could be one of those police vs firemen games. If you count 12 men on top 12 on bottom. If you could zoom in on one of those ribbons you might have your answer!:D

Some type of gathering where they played a pick-up game of baseball. Actually pretty common in old photos like this.

If tradition holds, nearly every man in the photo must be Joe Jackson or Ty Cobb.

Definitely a baseball bat and baseball glove in front, so is a baseball photo.

My guess is its a local amatuer type of thing, like today's softball leagues. As noted it could be two teams. You'll never know the specifics for sure.
