This isn't even close, let alone there was never a Wagner with this back. The seller gives the old "been in some old guys collection forever" gag and says they're selling as a repro.

I gotta start making up some stories for $80

The husband apparently did not take very good care of his collection.

Three things you can count on in life..... death, taxes and fake Wagners.

It's kind of interesting how badly beaten up some people think a card from that era needs to be for it to look "authentic". I think I still have a 1974 Fleer Pioneers of Baseball card of Ned Hanlon that I got back in the early 1980s or so from some neighborhood kid. That set depicted stars of the 19th and early 20th century, with old black and white photos. Here is the Hanlon card (not my copy):

https://shlabotnikreport.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/1975-fleer-pioneers-of-baseball-ned-hanlon.jpg

But my copy of the card is in terrible shape, despite having been less than 10 years old when I got it. It looks like somebody crumpled it up numerous times and maybe stomped on it, apparently in an effort to make it look like it was really from the 1890s (despite the 1974 copyright date on the back).

Interestingly enough, he has sold several Honus Wagners with different backs.
And the feedback on these is positive. No negatives.
Check out his feedback.

I find it ironic that there is so much money to be made by selling hand-made reprints to junior scam artists. I could probably make a living doing this (as could many of us).

The story won't be complete unless someone reports these cards being resold again...thanks for the idea P.T. Barnum !

You can - looks like all you need to do is crumple up some cheap reprints, make sure they're spelled correctly on the back - IE: No "Hindew", Pee'd-mont" or "Sweat Corporal" :-) .. put them in your pants pocket, run them through the washer a few times, come up with the "old collection", "grandma's attic", "Black Fox Find" (as someone recently posted) type of story-line, sprinkle in a few "rare" and "vintage" comments. Perhaps even a "few known to exist" comment.

Be sure to put in "L@@K!", "W@W!!", L@@KS NICER! and the ever-loving "BLAZER!" language - you'll be all-set! :D
