One of my favorite cards I own, now pretty much worthless. I don't know how water even got close to the card.

Ouch. So sorry.

Wow - so unfortunate. Looks like it was a fair amount of water, too. Not just moisture damage from a fireproof safe or something similar.

The whole case was just soaked, a lot of water. I thought I may have torn the card from being completely soaked, but I guess I got lucky ;)

Was on my nightstand and I found out my tervis has a leak and just drained out on top of my nightstand from the bottom.

I know, it's completely 100% my fault for being an idiot, I just liked looking at the card so that's why it was there.

Tough lesson learned.

Did you consign it in a GAI slab about 4 (maybe more) months ago?

I got it from an auction house.

Was this card inside the slab when it got soaked or cracked out and raw?

That's tough luck. Perhaps you should still let the card dry between a few paper towels and under some books and see how it goes. The signature is ruined, but the card may still be rescued.

Yeah I cracked it out, slab was awful.

Wasn't too worried about card condition since it's trimmed etc. But signature is gone so worthless to me unfortunately.

That sucks man. The same thing could have easily happened to me several times. Thanks for sharing...

That's what I'm disappointed in the most. Value doesn't matter to me, it's a freakin 100 year old signed card!

Bleh, tough lesson learned. Goes to show how important slabs are. I know BGS slabs are waterproof pretty much.

What a bummer. That's why I hardly ever sleep with my cards. I did wake up with Smoking Joe recently, though.

One should keep one's tervis out of one's sage. That's what I've learned here.:)

Truly though, that 's a big fat bummer:(

That card is still safely in a private collection, as far as I know. Very similar, but not miscut as this one is. I think this was that one:

Nah, man. It's still good. It's not mint, but you can still see the sig. I wouldn't worry about it.

I basically agree with this sentiment. It's still what it was before soaking - a Wheat-signed T201. Value may be diminished, but certainly not destroyed.

If you're going to throw it out I'll take it. Save the trees and all that. Just doing my civic duty.

You should send these photos to Doctor Towle over at Gone With The Stain - he does a great GREAT job with water stains. Feel free to DM if you need his direct contact info. He probably cant rescue the auto but he can make the card look great again once its dried out.

Lol, no chance I toss it, auto is still on it. Will most likely trade it.

It wanted to, but the GAI slab was so ridiculous I had to remove it. Now, I see I was clearly wrong, sadly.

Great idea! It looks actually pretty clean. All of the tobacco stains didn't catch on the card. All of that yellowish water pooled in the case and not the card at least.

It still presents nicely, just not the graph.
