Recently picked up this signed Hank Aaron snapshot
On the back theres a date written in marker and its printed on " A kodak paper". My question is: is this a type 1 original snapshot or something that was team issued?

I don't know of team issues with Kodak branding like that. It looks like a professional shot not an amatuer snap shot though. Perhaps something by Jime Brace or one of those folks. It does look like an original.

Thanks for your help. Ive never seen one like it. The signature style also looks to be from the period. I wish there was a way to know for sure. It looks like whoever took it wrote the date of when they took it. Does this photo style resemble something brace would do?

Brace did use such Kodak paper, but to my knowledge, was shooting pretty much exclusively in color at the time this was taken. There were plenty of other professional and semi-professional photographers who could have taken the shot. If the location is recognizable (I'm terrible with ballpark ID's), that might help narrow things down a bit. Maybe. Probably still very tough to know for sure who took the shot though.

Lance- if the date on the back is correct, the braves were playing the astros in Houston.

That being the case, I would say definitely not George Brace. I'm afraid I don't have a better guess in his place though.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but I've always had the same questions about this picture on Kodak paper. Willie Stargell with the Columbus Clippers...

Looks identical...i think the "A kodak paper" was only used certain years

I was wondering if maybe it was made later from the negative originally created for a 1962 Columbus club issue. I really have no idea...

The "A Kodak Paper" watermark was used from the 1960's to early 1970's.

This is correct - so this particular photo would not have actually been taken on June 12, 1971. Hank is wearing the Braves' home uniform at Atlanta Fulton County stadium (not the Astrodome).

Does it look like its a 70's photo though?

It is from the 1970s. The Kodak text on back shows that.

That Stargell photo is spectacular.
