A friend of mine buys a lot of stuff off Craigslist, mostly cards, but occasionally comes across autographs. He asked me about this Hendrix piece, but there are so many red flags I told him I wouldn't buy it, not to mention that I believe Hendrix is on the Top 10 Forgeries list, isn't he?

Anyone know Hendrix or have an opinion?

No opinions on the signature but here is an article on Global Authentics: http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/the-truth-about-global-authentics-steve-sipe-their-lead

Hendrix sigs usually turn up in ball point pen. We're there Sharpie markers in the late 1960s?

Sharpies were introduced in 1964

an entire Hendricks auto thread. CRS won't allow me to remember whether here or perhaps in a link I clicked to one of the online autograph sites - a couple of which are frequented by a few of the respected auto guys on here. It was quite extensive - I believe it was about a date book from 1963(?) and the many pages circulating in the hobby - all with a direct tie to a single real page and shown (at least by the author and responders) to unequivocally be phony. All I can offer.

no guarantees whether written or implied.

The original Sharpie was black. I don't know if or what colors other then black we're issued then.

Hi-
I have no opinion on the autograph itself, Henry, here is the thread you were referencing as well as a link to a discussion regarding autographs of Hendrix. I too thought of that discussion when I saw this post but I have no clue about his autograph at all or whether the one posted is real.

According to this (http://www.spectatornews.com/showcase/2007/10/15/history-of-sharpies/) site, colored sharpies didn't hit the market until 1979.

No opinion on the sig but in reference to the pen, it could be a Flair felt-tip pen, which were definitely around in the 60's.

I'm not a music sig guy, but I have seen plenty of Hendrix sigs. This is WAY too slowly drawn for Hendrix. If this is legit, it would be one of the best Hendrix sigs around. If that is so, why Craigslist and not R&R? Use common sense before even evaluating the actual item. Way too many things don't add up even before getting to the signature itself.

Don't get me wrong, I have actually seen a legit Gehrig signature on Craigslist, but items like that are few and far between.

Lastly, Global coa. Need we say more.
