Uncertain what the feelings are towards art cards but this looks pretty good and the articles are certainly on topic!

Looks like an interesting read. I'm impressed with the color pictures as it
kinda brings the era alive. Oddly, I can't find any corresponding website so
I can order a subscription to this periodical. If anyone finds their website,
could you kindly post a link? Thanks,

Erik,

I could only find this: http://helmarblog.com

Not really a collector of their stuff, though I did pick up this t206 Jim Bluejacket because the real thing doesn't exist. :)

Thanks for the heads-up, Dave and ErikV. Though I have none of the Helmar art cards, I like the looks of the magazine and ordered the first issue off eBay. Again, thanks.

I ordered one off ebay. Also bought a couple of the cards. I think they're really well done. Mine are both of Gibson. I emailed the owner, he may do a card up of Gibson when he was in Montreal 04-05. (my suggestion :)) He seems like a good guy and the art is great. IMO. Anyway here are 2 Gibsons;

All,

I contacted the eBay seller who turns out to be the publisher of the magazine.
I'm pasting the message I received from him as some on the board may find it
helpful.

I am the publisher of BH&A, and this is the first issue of what will be a
quarterly publication. This first one just came back from the printer, so our
helmarbrewing.com website will not show it until sometime this weekend. You
will be able to get a detailed explanation on the particulars then. This first
issue is 76 pages on heavy art paper, it weighs a pound. There is also a
corresponding digital version, plus subscribers get access to some other
goodies on the site. Subscriptions will be starting with the Fall issue, so if you
would like the current issue it is available here on eBay or at most Barnes &
Noble stores. Please take a look this weekend and if you have ANY questions
please just drop me a line.

I received my issue in the mail (I'm an advertiser) but haven't had a chance to look through it yet. I think the publisher is working hard to keep vintage sports art alive and relevant, and he's got a healthy respect for the types of items we all collect. Sooner or later I'm going to pick up a few of the cabinet cards for my collection - I don't care what they're worth, or what they'll be worth ten years from now, I just think they look cool and I'm happy to support someone who's trying to keep our hobby alive.

The magazine will be available at Barnes & Noble as well, by the way.

I noticed there's a nice article about an apartment that was shared by Christy Mathewson and John McGraw; I can't wait to have a few spare minutes to dig into it.

I picked up a few of his L1 Leather look-a-likes early on when he did them. They are close in size to the originals--maybe 75-80% the size but on very thick leather. Laser-etched I guess and very high quality. He definitely puts TONS of effort into what he makes and the quality is always good. I have a couple of the cabinet cards too. The 1933 Goudey look-a-likes bring HUGE money on ebay. Not sure they'll maintain that value but you can't buy them for any reason other than the look as an art card.
