I use AdBlock Pro for my browser. Whenever I load this website, that are 81 ads blocked. What the heck? Seriously?

IF you are talking about the banner ads, there's only 81? I thought there were more.

Leon: Another name for them would be cookies, or tracking cookies.

Richard, if you don't like them don't click on them. They don't jump though the screen and grab your keyboard.

And to be clear NONE of the banner ads track jack diddly from my end. There is no tracking or cookies in them that I am aware of. You click on a banner and go to the site. That is it as far as I know.

I'm not talking about the banner ads.

Adblock Plus:
Surf the web without annoying ads!
Can block tracking, malware domains, banners, pop-ups and video ads - even on Facebook and YouTube
Unobtrusive ads aren't being blocked in order to support websites (configurable)

I use my iPhone and never have any pop ups at all

If there are pop ups you probably have malware on your computer. There aren't any freaking pop ups you are talking about, that I am aware of, on this site.

One other thing, I am NOT responsible for what any Tapatalk or s/w related add on does to this site. They could embed pop ups but I won't allow them on this site.....from my end.

I'm talking about tracking cookies. No one needs to know where I surf. I don't get any pop ups.

Possibly some of the ads you have, may track.

It doesn't matter where you surf or what you have if you're on the internet someone knows what you're doing.

ABPlus I have it just to avoid pop-ups.
Don't track me/Blur 4.7.1581

They all will not save you. You're vulnerable to whomever has the capabilities to bypass any supposed add ons that can disable cookies or tracking.

Yes I use them but that's to pretend and lie to myself that it's actually doing what they say. But I don't fully believe that I'm protected.

P.S. I'm shocked that people on this site would even know about ABP. Hopefully I don't sound like an A-hole but my image is that most on this site are much older than me. But if that is true you're a bunch of smart ole farts !!! Hey that rhymes :D

No, they don't as far as I am aware. We don't allow any code like that. All we allow are .jpgs and .gifs. Now I am not saying one couldn't slip by by accident. But no, they aren't on this site. I think you are barking up the wrong tree.....but I will be happy to assist you any way I can to answer your questions. Show me some specifics and I will address each and every one.

We absolutely are a part of some affiliate marketing programs especially ebay. They will track you for marketing purposes.
Almost every website you go to has them. That being said it is ONLY when you click on something. So if you are afraid of being tracked for any of these type of programs, never click on anything on any site. That being said I have no knowledge of where any user goes nor do I care or want to know...

ps,, we also have google analytics installed to know how many views and other data we get.....but I/we don't get per user tracking or any info that is specific to a user.....Anyone can google those things you say you blocked and see what they are. It's not that big of a deal.....

Their website won't load. Not surprised.

VigLink | Automated monetization technology for publishers ...
VigLink is the platform on which site-to-site clicks are priced, bought, and sold. Publishers get paid for the sales they drive, advertisers earn new customers.

BTW, I'm not clicking on anything. I'm just loading the website.

I already said we are part of a few affiliate marketing programs. Most/many sites use them to produce a little revenue.

Richard, ads are on most every website you visit; why are you freaking out?

rdwyer
05-29-2015, 08:14 PM
Because there are 10 times more ads here than any other website I visit.

Tracking cookies track your movements. Then the info is sold off to spammers.

As someone who has been habitually on this board and constantly leaving the screen up sometimes on multiple devices for hours at a time for a year, let me just say that none of the aforementioned devices have exploded as of yet.

I use Ghostery with Firefox. Ghostery lets you block any tracking sites and shows you which are active. There are only 3 tracking websites on these pages: ebay Stats, Google Analytics and Viglink.

That sounds correct. They have been on here for around 5+ yrs and have been discussed before.

Virtually every website you visit has Google Analytics or similar type of program that shows website managers what areas of the site people are visiting, how long they're staying and what keywords were used to get there. They don't track individual users by name and they don't...and can't...track you once you leave. If you don't want anyone to know anything about what parts of the site you visit, my advice would be this: stay off the internet.
