I've been coaching my son's team for several seasons and he's made tremendous strides since the end of last fall.

He made his mom's day (and mine) hitting his first home run this afternoon. Strangely, it comes eerily close to the 25 year anniversary of my first (and only) homer. He also beat me by six years (I was a senior in high school).

Anyone else have stories to share?

Congrats Erick and Evan!

Here's my story -- My son hit also hit a home run on Mother's Day in his first year of playing Babe Ruth. It was a very cold day for May, so my wife decided that instead of sitting in the stands, she would watch the start of the game in our car, parked out beyond the center field fence.
He hits the home run to straightaway center and the ball actually hit our car -- I'm waiting for my wife to get out and get the ball, but nothing happens. I finally text her and she says -- "What ball, what home run? " Even though it hit our car, she had no clue what had just happened.

Happy Mother's Day!

Greg

Erick - thanks for sharing that story.
Last week, my 9 year-old son missed his first 'over the fence' HR by about 10 feet. One bounce over the wall. Can't wait to see it happen the first time! I was 13 or 14 before I had that experience. Must be the bats these kids are using today....

Had to bump this. My 9 year-old did it! 2 run bomb to left - cleared the wall by 10 feet. First dinger. Proud father. #Priceless.

Thanks Ben. One of those moments that a dad can't miss. I can miss his 2nd and 3rd etc, but will never forget that first trot around the bases (and I was coaching 3rd).
