Hello everyone!

I will try and keep this brief, just returned to the hobby a few years ago, was primarily a football collector in the junk wax late 80's early 90s era. Started right where I left off as a kid when I returned to the hobby with Montana/Elway/Marino stuff, but quickly became bored.

My collecting interests have shifted to 1971 Topps baseball now, and I am hoarding these at an extreme pace! 1971 is way before my time, but I remember my father having this set when I was younger, and him telling me about playing "Mighty-Might" baseball in Canton with Thurman Munson when he was a kid! Needless to say, they did not get along well in little league, but my dad always would get choked up when telling me about the unfortunate plane accident which took Munson's life.

My father is gone now as well, but I feel like my old man is sitting beside me, BSing about the players with me as I flip through these cards. One thing has led to another, and I am slowly beginning to admire Clemente as well, even though I never was able to see him play.

Thanks for your time everyone. I hope I can contribute to this board in a positive way, and look forward to getting to know everyone who I have not met, or dealt with before.

Sincerely
Andrew

Welcome! I got back into collecting last year after 2 decades away and I love Net54 - the amount of information that board members have and their infectious enthusiasm for cards makes this place extremely enjoyable. I hope you have as much fun here as I do, good luck collecting what you love!

Hi Andrew,

Welcome! 1971 was the first year I collected as an 8 year old. Those cards are long gone, but I did complete a 1971 Topps set a few years back. It is the best set of the 1970s decade by far. What are you going to work on next?

Good luck!

Tom

Hi Tom!

I am not sure what I will try and tackle next....this set is going to take me quite a while to get in the condition I want. Believe it or not I have nearly 11 complete 71 sets, from buying lots, etc. The goal is to put the best set I can together, sell the rest, and then work on upgrading the remaining set over time.

I do like the 52's though......
