Usually found in the Archives series. I started getting into them pursuing the 1997-1999 Topps Stars autographed rookie card inserts.

Does anyone collect them?

Nice collection; I'm not sold on the previously two-panel cards that are now single-paneled, like the Gary Carter. But I guess I can understand it. The Mike Schmidt looks great as it was in '73.

I agree. I wish Topps would either use the original or use the photo in the standard template for that year. I dislike the bastardization of the multiple player cards, they are just as ugly as the original.

Nice collection!

I've always liked them and had a few over the years from both baseball and basketball.

Still have one left, its the Irvin you have pictured.

You know, a few months ago, Brent, I started looking at these in earnest for the first time, and I really like these reprint autographs. Yes, I would, of course, prefer an authentic card from the year in particular signed by the player, but there would be no way of knowing definitively if the signature was authentic without taking it to an expert (I certainly don't put a lot of faith in PSA/DNA, or JSA. I don't yet have an opinion on SGC's auto grading service). So, the autos being certified are the next best thing.

Certainly Topps isn't going to do a recall, and have Hank Aaron sign a bunch of authentic '54 Topps, and then stamp them. So, this is the next best thing.

If anything, I'd like to see a little bit bigger checklist. I know there are a lot of my old Brewers players that do not have one of these cards. Those that do, like Cecil Cooper, Ben Oglivie...they will make it into my collection shortly after I start collecting again.

You've got some real beauties-the Eddie Mathews, Ernie Banks, Bob Feller, Ralph Kiner and Al Kaline, among others, really caught my eye. I'd love to own the Brooks Robinson, too. Oh man, if only Clemente had lived. How I'd absolutely love to own both a 1971 and a 1973 Topps reprint with Roberto's auto.

I must confess, however, as a modern collector, too...seeing the '52 Topps Bob Feller, and the Frank Robinson '57 Topps Archive cards...as refractors...well, it makes my eyes twitch. Somehow, it just doesn't seem right to me. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to own a certified auto from either of them, but there's something off about seeing a 1957 Topps chrome card, lol.

Beautiful collection!!!!

Oh man, I didn't see the '51 Topps Monte Irvin before. That's a beauty. That set has really, really grown on me.

The top 14 cards are the complete 1997 Topps Stars auto insert set. Most can be had for 12 to 25. The Mathews is the toughest, it sells for 60 to 90.

Ashburn was part of the 1997 set, but passed away before he could sign them.

The 1998 and 1999 Topps Stars auto insert sets are smaller, but the cards are more expensive.

I agree about the shiny Feller and F. Robinson. The prices on those 2 were to good to pass up.

Great looking group of cards. Good way to collect the greats of baseball at an economical price. Just imagine what vintage examples of all those would set you back! Congrats on a great collection and thanks for sharing.

Most of my autographed cards are Topps Certified...may as well trust someone - if you can't get them in person...plus, if you ever decide to sell them, an official third-party certification is better than your own word...IMO.

I prefer to buy signed cards of recent players in mfg certified form. To hell with the PSAs of the world.

A few Years ago I put together a 500 Home Run Hitter Display using Pack issued "certified" Autographs. It required that I use cards from a number of Card Companies. I tried as best I could to get cards issued when players were active.

I pulled the Enos Slaughter card just after he died. I had a few years where everything I pulled was either a Yankee or a Ranger including Alex Rodriguez autograph, bat and jersey cards. Sometimes I miss the early 2000's when the card companies were just giving this stuff away.
