It's 111 years ago this Spring since a rookie pitcher, George Leroy Wiltse, started and won his first dozen games in the Major Leagues.
This rookie pitching record of 12 consecutive wins has never been broken.
I'll start this Wiltse show with my T206's, but feel free to post any variety of his cards.

Steve
If there is enough interest in this thread, I'm sure cards (and stuff) better than mine will be on display.
Thanks for posting your cards and reminding me that I forgot my no-cap Wiltse cards. He certainly looks quite handsome in this image.

Has it been discussed that the06 portrait with cap looks like two different sweaters sewn together?

The NY Giants sweaters are a interesting design. Eight NY Giants subjects wearing sweaters are pictured in the 460-only series.
Scan of these T206's will follow.

I've thought that almost every time I see that card. The Red Murray is the same way.

Here are the 8 sweater guys of the NY Giants. American Litho. printed these images in their last series (460-only).

As Ted pointed out, the design on the sweater was interesting and looked better in person I'm sure. The attempt to draw or paint the sweater was not as smooth as witnessed on these cards. Here is a Matty photo wearing the same sweater.

Not made from two different sweaters, but two separately manufactured parts of a same sweater, then meant to be joined together. My guess is that this style garment was better than a total whole pullover (which would ruin their hairdo:)). The buttons on the bottom half, as well as the top half, could be unbuttoned for easy pullover access (and McGraw's tummy), and then re-buttoned.
When you see cards from that era reproduced in scanner technology from our own era, the darkened contrast at the "stitch" is obvious. These guys, traintravelers all, folded up their garments, in this case at the halfway stitch, to fit inside a suitcase - no UnderArmour was then being sent to the drycleaners.
Please visit Mr. Paul's Haberdashery at a mall near you. Ask to see The Babe Ruth Cardigan Selection:cool:
