Hey all,

Hope this finds everyone starting to feel a little warmth after this nasty winter. New York City might actually be headed in a good direction, so I'm a happy man.

Anywho, I have a question about the photo enclosed below:

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b158/GKreindler/51884335_zpstrdz2vfv.jpg (http://s19.photobucket.com/user/GKreindler/media/51884335_zpstrdz2vfv.jpg.html)

According to Getty, the image dates from September 19, 1935 in Fenway, and depicts Hank Greenberg, Goose Goslin, Charlie Gehringer and Pete Fox. The problem is, they've only gotten the ballplayer names right.

Doing a simple check on Detroit's '35 schedule, September 19th does indeed fall on a date with the Sox. However, the dugout they're shown in is definitely that of Yankee Stadium (the architecture of which is pretty unique). Now, the Tigers did play the Yanks in a series that occurred the week prior, so I figured that maybe these four had a big game in New York, hence their photo being taken together. But as it turns out, in those five games, Fox didn't play, with Gee Walker taking RF duties. I also checked the last game before the series with the Yanks, and Fox did indeed play. However, it didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary happened in that game to warrant these four having their photo taken before any of the games that series. But then again, maybe photographers just took a photo of them because they were the best hitters on the team who at the time had between an 8.5 and 9.5 game lead on the second place Yanks?

Uniform-wise, the image fits the '34 and '35 clubs, but not the '33 squad. And I would imagine that since the date Getty lists is from late '35, the photo probably wouldn't date from anytime after (then again, knowing Getty, anything's possible).

So, what I'm asking is if anyone might have a Type 1 version of this in their collection, or might have seen one somewhere - one that might have some better date information than what Getty is offering. Or, if anyone can see anything in the photo that could date it properly that I'm missing.

Any info that can provided is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading another one of my ramblings!

Sorry, Graig, but I've got nothing in the way of info to add.
