So, I just received my last card to complete my T205 set, Addie Joss. First off let me thank Donscards, Scott (Mybuddyinc), and everyone else who I purchased cards from on the board. I can honestly say I had nothing but wonderful transactions. I bought by first T205 (ewing) when I was about 10 and didn't buy another until age 31. I started buying again while laid up with hernia surgery. I have really enjoyed rediscovering the hobby, especially the social end here. I've debated tackling another set, but really love the 05's and think I will continue adding and upgrading, as you can see I have multiples of many and more on the way. Just curious who else here has a complete 05 set and how many complete sets you think are floating around? Anyway thanks to all and to Leon for this place.

That is one hell of an accomplishment. Completing any vintage set is a wonderful experience, to complete one that old is taking it to the next level. Congrats!

With apologies to Monster hunters , I still think this is the best baseball card set ever made.

I love seeing them all laid out like this, Dennis.

I have a full set of base cards, about 93% of the master set which has some silly priced variations, a tiny subset of Cycles, and duplicates on about half the set in case I shoot for another. My master set is part of the SGC Registry, where you'll see some familiar N54 names.

I tend to stick to which sets I love the best, so I probably will continue to acquire more of these at some point. I don't know if I want to go higher or lower grade (raw), but I love these cards.

Nice job on your set!
WHOOT!

Thanks guys, I'm missing a few variations like the hobby no stats that I don't feel compelled to go after. I'm not that into backs though I do have one of each except broadleaf, drum and Hindu.

Dennis,
Very nice accomplishment...

I have one near complete master set (missing only the Hobby no stats) and another complete front set.

Love this set...always looking for off-grade/lower condition t205s.

I remember back in the 1970's I was down to one card to complete the set and I was at a show and Lew Lippsett had it on his table....I told him it was the last card I needed....How Much? He said I can't sell it to you......I said why not.....He said because I'm giving it to you so you are complete now....Thanks, Lew

I have a complete t205 set with I believe all variations. All the hoblitzell cards including no stats, Wilhelm Cycle suffered, white polar bear, Mathewson cycle , lathams, Gray line of stats, moran stray line stats, wallaces, a couple drum backs, a couple hindu backs, and a few broadleafs. Now that I think of it I guess I need a blank back. Anyway
It took a long time, congratulations on your accomplishment! :)

So, we must designate MARCH officially as T205 MONTH.

Last week, I picked up the Cy Young, my last T205 HOFer. This completed my first t-series HOF set (although still missing the Mathewson Cycle 1-loss, Wallace 1-line stats and the Collins Yellow Elephant which I doubt I will ever own any of these).

Still working on a few HOFer in back runs, but I consider my collection complete.

Congrats! I've been working on my set since 2003. Slowly chipping away. I'm getting closer and closer....

What will you do now? Upgrade or start a new set?

My Congrats! I'm under 30 cards now and have been working on it - off and on - since the mid-1990s. I ALWAYS wanted to FIND this set card by card at local shows, flea markets, antique shops, etc. but realized that I'd probably NEVER finish it that way!

I STILL enjoy chipping away at it and "meeting" all of the GREAT folks who have helped me edge closer to it!

Congratulations on finishing one great set. I've been working on my basic set for 10 years and have three toughies left, Cobb, Johnson, and Wilhelm. I agree that it is one of the most beautiful sets ever put out and ranks with the 53 Bowman colors.

UNREAL --- That's one beautiful set !!!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing them all together is quite amazing, the colors and condition are stunning.

Makes me (and I'm sure others) want to give the Golden Boarders a try.

Completed mine in 1973, about the same time I completed the monster (less the big 3 back then.). Always have liked the T-205s much better.

Great accomplishment.
Currently my favorite set--as Leon mentions great lithography; with bios and statistics (and variations). Something for everyone.

Congratulations!

I had a similar situation with my T206s where I bought my first as a kid and no other purchases until my 30s. Fun stuff this cardboard collecting. Congrats again.

I was reading some old threads and found this comment and it reminded me of a similar occasion. I was finishing up my M101-4/5 back run many years ago. I was down to needing the Everybody's back. There was one in auction and it got away from me under curious conditions in an auction. I told the auctioneer about it, who was sympathetic and a friend of Lew's. Lew found out about and sent me an Everybody's card. I asked how much and was ecstatic. He said, just pay me what you want to. Lew can be a bit cranky but he has kind heart for collectors. He has helped me a lot with my collecting......

I've heard great stories about Lew. I am located probably within 25 or 30 miles of him. I've never actually interacted with him or met him before. I wish I could.

Very cool Dennis! I am over 80% done and it is flat out a cool set. I am not going after the very high dollar back variations. Just not that interested in paying thousands for a letter difference hidden on the back of a card! Well done

I've been upgrading here and there as well as adding backs (picked up a Broadleaf even!) Also there aren't too many things more satisfying in the hobby than upgrading a card and selling the old one to break even.
