Just wondering, were there any official cards of Reggie in an Orioles uniform ever made? I've seen that proof card of '77, but is that as close as it gets?

There is a nice Jackson in the Orioles postcard set from that year.

The other ones are all from player retrospective set, not issued when Reggie was a member of the O's.

Didn't Topps comp one up that they never issued, and is super rare? Thought Olberman had bought a few examples. Suspect Al R. might have one as well.

Anthony-- I think that's the proof the OP mentioned. The SCD Standard catalog lists it and several other proofs from the sheet the Jackson came from in which the players are shown in different poses or uniforms from their actually issued cards. I do not have the catalog with me, but there are several of such proofs of which the Jackson is the best known. I think Bob Lemke said he had one of the full proof sheets in his office at SCD when he was there. Bob or someone else has also produced a "reprint" or fantasy copy of the Jackson Oriole card.

An internet search of "SCD proofs Olberman" should turn up a series of 3 articles KO did for SCD on Topps proof cards. I am still out of the country or would post a link

I was a huge Reggie fan back in the day. I remember one of my first cards ever pulled from a pack at 9 years old was a 79 Reggie. I knew he had been an Athletic, and I of course worshipped him as a Yankee...but when I flipped that card and learned he was an Oriole it literally blew my mind. When I finally was able to trade for a 77 Reggie, I was super upset that it was obviously poorly airbrushed...I was ticked at 9 that it looked so bad, haha. Reggie being an Oriole was one of the biggest mythilogical big deals in my childhood. I couldn't see it, picture it...let alone believed it! :p

Seeing this thread brought me back to that 9 year old me...THANKS!

I did read the Olbermann story about the proof, so I knew about that, but I didn't know about the MSA disc, so thanks for that. And i missed the Maryland Lottery one when I searched ebay, so thanks for that as well. It's pretty ugly but at least it exists.

Seems like somebody else would have made one. Guess the trade was too late in the Spring. Would have been a great card to spice up the traded subset Topps put out that year.

The Reggie Pic I want wouldn't be a card.

One year his stuff was late getting to the AllStar game so he briefly wore a uniform loaned by the host team, I think Seattle?

I saw a typical TV portrait on the pregame, and forget if he just wore it the day before or for warmups too. I'm pretty sure his stuff showed up in time or his team supplied a replacement.

Steve, it was in Seattle before the AS game where Reggie wore the Mariners uniform. Below is a link to that game on you tube.....the shot of Reggie in the Mariners uni is at about the 1 Hr, 10 Min mark.

Gotta love some of the old commercials shown in this game's telecast.

Check out George Brett's first at bat at the 44 minute mark. No wonder he only struck out 22 times in 1980.
The interpretation of the check swing sure has changed.
