I received my Saco lots today in the mail, and this card was the one that intrigued me the most from what I bought.

I'm not a grade snob by any means, but I was astonished with this card. The black marker was all it took to give this a freaking 1.5. I've seen cards that look like they've gone through my dogs intestinal track get a 2, and then there is this.
I've bought a few 4.5's, 5's, and a 5.5 from the Saco (not here to debate overgrading) and this is right there with them and in my opinion better than most of them......well except for the black mark. It is just astonishingly gorgeous in my hand and probably one of my new favorite cards.
A fellow member whose opinion I respect was at the auction and also said it was a beautiful card, but not to cross over to PSA and get the qualifier because many fewer people would be interested in buying it.
So here's my question, out of my own curiosity.......
Would you?

Yes....A PSA 6 (MK) is worth more than an SGC 1.5

If you ever plan to sell it you must cross it over to psa, hell selling it raw would be a better option than leaving it in that holder.

I was going to say the same thing as robert. I'd rather have a qualified 5 or 6 than a 1.5.

Agreed. I just traded another board member a T206 with a stamp on the back that was also graded a 1.5 that looked otherwise Ex/Mt. I told him exactly that Bobby.

Did the stamp on the back say "Howe McCormick"...LOL....Haven't heard from Ed in awhile. I wonder how his collection is coming along?

Jeff...that is a beauty of a Chase! Congrats :)
If anything, I'd be happy about the grade because I'm sure you got a bargain because of it. I have a few cards in my collection just like this and because of the mark, I got it for a song. Most of what I care about is how great the image is on the front and try to avoid paper loss if at all possible.
Now to the question. I'd have to agree with what everyone is saying...crossing it over to PSA and getting a higher number grade will definitely bump the resale value (if that's what you're going for). For some reason people get blinded by the number and don't treat a qualifier on a slab like they should. Maybe the registry doesn't ding qualified cards as hard as they should?? Anyway, good luck with whatever you do with it, but personally, I love it like it is.
Big question - did you get the 1.5 discount on that card or did you have to pay strong because it was a very nice looking card?

Found one recently on Ebay in the completed auctions section. The T206 only received one bid, so I was hoping it was Ed who bought.

I realize it probably isn't kosher but 70+juice for the card, and I would have been willing to pay a lot more than that.....
Of the Chase cards, I think this one might be the toughest to find with the EPDG back. PSA has 3 graded total and SGC shows 3 but could be more based on 19 graded Chase cards that aren't differentiated.
LOTG sold a SGC 40 for $700 about 2 years ago.....and this one blows that one away.....except for the black mark!
Regardless tough card that I felt I stole, especially after seeing it in person. It's beautiful.....and it ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
There's nothing wrong with that card in my eyes. In fact, I like the way that black ink was splattered, it gives it a little character. I'd take a card like that anyday if given the choice between it and a 30 that's a beater.

Looks like India ink, not a marker. I refinished an old desk that had similar ink stains. Someone kept it in a desk drawer with the ink well. Gives it charactar.
If I was keeping it, (and it sounds like you are) I'd keep it in the SGC case because I think it looks better. If I was selling, or trying to prepare my collection for a time when I would sell, I'd send it to PSA.

I thought it might have been short too but it measures up equally with other cards in the set. I think the diamond cut makes it a little deceiving.
