I pulled this out of storage to re-familiarize myself with it. I would love to own one of the Garvey pocket games, if they do exist.

This is my story behind the photos:

Have never seen the Garvey pocket game, but have owned the Garvey board game that is shown in the pic.

Fascinating discovery, Curt (and great looking website, too, we'll add). We think, though, that your surmise is correct --
that the Hit & Run game never went into mass production or distribution. We've never encountered an example of it
-- or even a mention of it -- in over 25 years of specializing in tabletop baseball.

Just by the by, your little shot at Games Magazine seemed unnecessarily dismissive. GM was for years the publication
for boardgamers, created by Sid Sackson (to whom the package was in fact addressed), an enormously respected giant in the hobby
as an award-winning game designer and games scholar and author. Just sayin'.

Fair enough. I suppose someone will eventually take the obvious name and some of the more creative names can be a stretch at times. Kind of like Sports Magazine I guess.

Thank you for the feedback. I hope that a few of the Garvey games made it into packages like mine though and survived, even if I never come upon one it would be good to know they still exist. I would guess that even if those in the photo behind the first one were incomplete props, there must be at least one of these that was made.
