I placed a bunch of initial bids in a recent H&S auction and won a team pic purportedly of the 1923-24 Cubs World Tour team. I often buy and sell through H&S - they are great guys. I did not take any more than a cursory glance at the online catalogue. I have the picture in hand, but I am having some difficulty identifying the players that are supposed to be present: Alexander, Hartnett, Maranville, and Hack Wilson. Now, on the reverse of the 8" x 10" it is noted "Chicago Cubs 1923-24 World Tour" and "Chicago Cubs circa 1923-26". Maranville was there in 1925, Wilson got there in 1926 and Alexander left in 1926. A couple of the players pictured look familiar - anyone definitely identifiable? Thanks for your help!

I can't help but think this was an old timers reunion as most of them look over 40. Also I'd swear that's Sam Crawford second from top left and Johnny evers middle row just left of man standing.

It might be a reunion of the 1913 world tour team, Crawford was on that team, and it would be a 10 year anniversary if the photo is dated 1923. Perhaps a check of rosters with known players would be fruitful. That would be pretty nice, in any case I think the players are too old for it to be a team from 1923.

"Hans #2" as Honus called him was on the 1913 World Tour team. He might be the guy in the back 2nd from the right. I'm not good at IDing faces but it looks a bit like him.

Peace, Mike

The guy standing left corner to whom I believe is Sam Crawford could be Jimmy Archer. Here is a photo of Archer form '42. Similiar droopy noses

I do not see the players id'd by the auction house. Having seen the original photo has the words "players and entourage" on the reverse, I think your best bet is find a roster of the 1913-14 tour and start comparing, because there is a good chance this is a reunion of that tour.(10 year) Also you may be able to id the name at the bottom to see if the person was related to a player on the tour.

The guy sitting in the tie and vest kind of resembles Hack Wilson.
