Hey guys,

I just missed out on winning this rough lot of 1947 KC Monarchs vs Memphis Red Sox.

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=171673665042&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565

I had a cool idea to display one and was wondering if the winner happened to be on the site.

Let me know & thanks,
-Nick

Hi Nick!

I bid on, but didnt win these posters. Im okay with that because they were rather rough. I was looking at them with the thought of making at least 1 complete poster to display. What did you have in mind?

Thanks!
Michael

I bid as well and lost. They were really rough but I was going to get a rustic wood frame for all three with a rustic wood board for the back. Even with all the tears and stuff it would look like it was hanging on a fence or something like that. Let me know if that makes sense.

I see another exact one is in Hunt Auctions currently, more pristine however.

Hey Paul,

Do you have a link to it?

Those three were definitely real but just really awful in terms of condition.

If you really want them, contact the seller and tell him that if the winner backs out, you will buy them. But you'll have to offer a lot more than $91. A private bidder won, and put an extra bid in. Looks to me like sniffing for a max bid, then adding a reserve.

I will likely contact the seller tomorrow when I have more free time. My max bid on it was $90. It was definitely more than I wanted to pay but these are relatively hard to find.

FWIW this poster sold last night through Hunts for $2750 :eek:that had an estimate of $300-$500. 3 rough ones as a lot on ebay wasnt bad for under $100

sickening to see how little psa/sgc 6 1952 topps mantles were going for in the Hunts auction 10 years ago..im sure its like that at other auctions too in that time period but i just looked at the Hunts archives now .....man what a miss..

This is mine. I bought mine about 7 or 8 years ago and went for the old distressed look when I had it framed. I collect Memphis Chicks and Memphis Red Sox stuff and would have jumped all over the lot of 3 that went on eBay, but I never saw them. Happy Collecting

$2,750 is a ridiculous price for that piece, makes no sense to me......

I really didn't see that poster going for more than $500 and I thought even that was way too high. You can get some earlier posters in likely better condition for less than that.
