I have always steered clear of Gleason's signature, there just seem to be too many secretarials that I am not sure which is which. I know it's not baseball, but seeing as a lot of us also like entertainment autographs, does anyone here have any experience with Gleason? This letter and photo were received through the mail in the early 1970's. They are both signed, and not preprinted examples. Clearly, they are signed by two different hands. Is the letter authentic and the photo secretarial, or could Gleason have had two different people signing for him? Any thoughts appreciated.

Photo no way, but letter yes. More concerned that it may be autopen. Very neat and straight

Thanks for the feedback Jim. I have been leaning towards the letter being authentic as well. I knew the photo was clearly secy, in a females hand likely. The letter I looked at under 30x loupe, it's thick felt tip and I can see ink overlap, it doesn't have an autopen feel to it, ie no shakiness, no stop and start and direction change, and no ink dots at starts and finishes of the parts where an autopen would have to lift and set down. More opinions welcomed if there are any other Gleason knowledgeable folks out there, regarding the TLS. Appreciate the help.

I would have to see the letter without the photo blocking it. Usually there is a notation in the corner that is blocked when someone else has signed the letter.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. What are your thoughts about the signature itself?
