View Full Version : So, what did I miss?

Hello board...didn't exactly plan to, but I took a break from the hobby for about 7 months. I'm still not sure why, but I am sure some of you can relate. I think I have the itch again, but may still be a few months out still...

Anyway, "hypothetically" (to take from one thread I just enjoyed reading), if someone were gone for half a year --- what would that person have missed over the last 6 months here on Net54?

Hope everyone is well!

Nate

Worthwhile thread about a Cuban Stars Postcard that went for $4000 and some other early Cuban cards that made a stir.

Nate, everyone forgot you. We all talked about it constantly and agreed that we were forgetting you. You got back just in time.

a group of notorious rebels got together and began creating threads concerning religion and politics while absolutely refusing to put their full names on posts. Their identities are still unknown with only minor pieces of evidence available--- a porcelain crown,a remnant of a corner of a sheepskin which exhibits only the word 'juris', what may be cardboard or just thick paper with the two letters MC, and one scribbled note with what appears to be a stamp with partial address. These have been quite unusual months that we hope will never be repeated. The moderators are beside themselves. It's painful to envision that.
welcome back, nate.
best,
Barry

Dont put the word "cuba" anywhere on ebay or paypal, dont hypothetically make deals with anyone, there are some fake ruths on ebay and the pats are cheating again.

I am reminded of that last scene from the 1978 Superman movie when Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) after losing all memory of all the chaos and destruction over the past few days and who Superman really is, turns to Clark Kent and asks, "Clark, so what's happening in the world?".

I think it was recently that someone did some cool detective work about the type of roller presses used for t206 printing. the key piece was a card with a nail imprint on the back.

I vaguely recall another bit of fine detective work on some other subject that happened recently too.

Sorry I don't have any links for you.

Last year the 1914 Cracker Jack went hot. I mean real hot but since then has come back down to reality. T206 high demand per usual. I mean besides that you haven't missed much. Welcome back though

Many common backed t206's are actually more rare than the t206 Doyle nat'l error card.

Welcome back Nate! So, tell us, how was the 6 months away? Did it change how you feel toward the hobby? Any revelations?

on a similar note...shilling is pretty much considered the same thing as a reserve by many.

Yes, and it is landing some people in jail. So, as long as jail time isn't an issue, shill away....

90's cards are hot.

Most are worth north of 6 cents now, up from 5 cents a few months ago.
