tobacco and caramel cards in binders

I always enjoy seeing pictures that people post on here of their sets/collections in binders. I really like the way tobacco cards look in those 15 card pages. I keep my e120 set in a binder, as well as a raw e95 set I'm working on. I use top-loaders because I like to move my cards around when I add a new one, and I'm paranoid about damaging them.

I really like the look and the album type. I use the 15 per page sheets for my raw tobacco cards. I never thought of using a larger size and keeping the cards in top loaders.

No quick photos as I'm at work but I have almost all my nonsports N and T cards in those nostalgia slipcover albums. The 10 cards per page pages have just a little more room in them than the Ultrapro 15 cards per page pages do, so you don't get any tight fits. I like your BB solution using the toploaders in the 6 cards per page pages. I've got maybe 20-25 of those Nostalgia albums but you can't get them anymore as Murraycards went out of business. At least I've not been able to find the same sized ones.

Unfortunately most of my E9x cards are in toploaders stored in boxes cuz they are too big for 15 pocket but too loose for 9 pocket. Wish they had 12 pocket with 3 rows of 4 :(

I use Archival Methods binders (http://www.archivalmethods.com/product/binders-slip-case-set) with slip case and am happy. Those Nostalgia ones look beautiful!

Obvious bunch of Walter Johnsons... I like the horizontal Cracker Jacks, the Old Mill red border cards are honored to be in that book (Angermeier portrait, Frankfort, series 6 looks good), a stock certificate, Old Judge cards galore...

After seeing Dan's T206 collection a few years ago, not a single day has gone by without me struggling with the urge to crack all my cards out and put them in a binder. I've resisted thus far.

This photo shows some of Lionel Carter's T206 collection in its original state. ;) I was fortunate enough to get one of the cards shown.

I bought a T206 reprint set and loaded it into 15 pocket sheets. When I get an original I replace the reprint. It's a fun way to collect the set! Four reprints remain on this page.

I have never held a flip out of the slab. Is there any danger in ink transfer or staining by putting the flip in a page so that it is touching the back of the cards as Larry has done?

The slips are stable, they aren't going to stain a card. They might if you added oil, gasoline, alcohol, or something like that. But dry and touching the slip won't affect the card.

One neat aspect with the ungraded cards in a binder is that you can take out all of a certain team, then lay them out by series. You can see "Cubs" on the jerseys of the of the 150 series cards, and the eventual transition to "Chicago" down the front of the 460 series. It's much better than a Beckett-like alphabetical sorting, oblivious of team designation.

The standard 9 pocket pages let the cards move too much, so I use the Ultra Pro Mini 9 Pocket pages (3 1/8 X 2 1/4.)

I have a small but growing collection that I keep in a binder. I use card savers cut down to size to fit inside 9 pocket pages. This keeps my cards tight and protected but allows me to move them around safely.

Most of my T and E cards are in toploaders, but some are in these 18-pocket pages that I got back around 1993 and filled up soon after. In the first one I made a nice display of T206 backs, though even at the time I think I had more backs that didn't fit in the display. On the left side I put the 150-350-460 versions of Piedmont, Sweet Caporal, and Sovereign, then on the right side I put the A-B-C brands (American Beauty, Broadleaf, Cycle), all of them 350 versions with borders, and below that six of the "Assorted"/"Assortment" brands. I probably didn't have a Carolina Brights yet at the time.

In the second picture are some of my T209 through T212s. This may have been all I had at the time I put together the page, though I now have more of all of them, especially T210s and T212s (of which I have more than 50 each).

Pete -- Here is the front of that page, below. I had some E79 Prize Fighter Caramels in there, because I didn't have enough miscellaneous T-size baseball cards at the time. That wouldn't be a problem now.

Rob G. -- I'm pretty sure those 18-pocket pages are no longer made, and these have no manufacturer named on them. I got these around 1993 at AU Sports in Skokie, Illinois, which is still around but moved a few years ago to Niles.

I also have one of these 15-pocket pages made by Rotman, into which I put some of my Old Judges about 15 years ago, back when I only had 10 Old Judges (plus five Old Judge actresses). I love these pages because they allow much more room and are easier to load and unload than the Ultra-Pro 15-pocket pages, which are a tight fit for T cards and too narrow for a lot of E cards, such as E95s. (Actually, I also have my T59 Flags of All Nations set in these pages, because those cards are also too wide for the UltraPro pages.) I got this page at a card show in the 90s when I bought the last card in the page, but Rotman appears to have gone out of business years ago, and I've never been able to find more of these pages.

Barry -- my trade cards are in albums, mostly in 4-pocket pages, with 2-pocket and 1-pocket pages for the bigger cards, and a few 6-pocket and 9-pocket pages for smaller cards. I think I have 17 albums now and counting, organized by product type (four albums of medicine, three of thread, two of soap, three of stoves, two of sewing machines, one of corsets and other clothing, two of shoes), plus numerous stacks of cards that still need to go into albums, probably at least a couple of albums' worth.

I had them in Card Savers, but I find I like binder pages better. I have my Monster binder that has Scot Reader's story and the back multiplier in it, and other T206 information.

I collect 99% graded, but I have a true appreciation for pre-war cards that have been obviously handled. It's interesting and fun to wonder who had these cards before us and how much they cherished them like we do

I know what you mean Mike. Every card I get, I find the story of the guy. I own the card of the guy who has the lowest batting average in history. Of players who have the AB's to qualify for the batting title, he has the lowest ever.

I now collect raw too - from trusted sources.

Bergen was considered one of the best defensive catchers of his day, as was his brother Marty, who tragically killed his wife and kids before committing suicide in 1900.

Yes I was wondering about the 15 pocket Ultra Pro. I like the appearance but with my limited number of cards I wanted to move them around as I bought new cards without damaging them further.
Looks like I may have to go the route of the 9-pocket as well.

For me, this is what collecting is all about. I have some raw T206 HOFers on the way, and I am pumped about it! I had about 60 Obaks all in a binder that I stupidly sold. So, I am anxious to get going this way again.

Great thread revival!!!!! And beautiful pics of raw cards in binders, made me go and find my partial T206 set I have been neglecting for over a year now.

I remember a thread years ago about raw T206s and that 'vintage' smell they gave off.......lol.
