I thought this would be fun.

What are your 2015 Collecting Goals ?

1. I think I'm going to start collecting Red Man Tobacco cards this year. I've always loved their art work.
2. Continue upgrading 1975 Topps and 1964 Topps sets.
3. Get a 1954 Topps Hank Aaron rookie to complete the Aaron Topps Basic Card run. This one was also a goal for 2014 that never got completed.

Now the hardest part, for me, is to stay focused on goals and not spend money on other cards when a "good deal" comes up.

I agree, passing on good deals was the hard part for me too.

So a few years back, I expanded my goals (currently working 50-55 Bowman and Post sets) to encompass multiple sets(instead of just 1-2), so that when a good deal does come up, I do not feel that I have to pass on it. Obviously, it will take more time to finish each of these sets....but what's a few more years anyway when you have built the sets on "good deals".

Continue to punch away at my 1959 Bazooka set. Hopefully 2015 will bring a Banks and Drysdale into the fold. Picked up 4 along with 2 signed ones in 2014.

Goals in order of priority:

1A. Complete 1965 Topps Baseball set (65% complete)
1B. Complete 1965 Philadelphia Football set (30% complete)

* 1965 is my birth year and I turn 50 in September. Goal is to have both complete by then as a "happy birthday to me" gift.

2. Continue to add oddball items to my Hank Aaron collection

i want to finish my 1973 Topps set that I am piecing together. May be the only thing that keeps me sane as I expect to go through major professional and personal changes in 2015.

My goal is to stop buying so much and maybe refocus on just new Garvey items. Because new Garvey items are few and far between, I usually get bored and end up searching for other good stuff though…

I'd like to continue to slowly organize everything too so that I can find it when I want to share photos, information or just to remember the items and view them easier.

For 2015, I'd like to complete my run of Mantle's Venezulan cards (need 60 and 68) and Holiday Inn postcards (need the postcard featuring the pool). I'd also love to add one or two regionally issued cards, but those would just be icing on the cake.

Good luck and welcome to the board. I am currently sitting at #45 (I only have a fraction of them graded), if you'd like to talk Mantle ever.

1. Finish my 1957 set

2. Continue building my 1960 set.

3. Continue the '73 and '76 sets I am working on.

Fortunately for me, condition is really not an issue...as long as it's 70/30 centering or better and no writing or pinholes I'm good with it.

For me...

1. Finish 67 Topps (10 to go)
2. Continue chipping away at 53, 57, 61, 65 all Topps sets, hope to get all these sets either finished or down to single digits by the end of the year!

Happy New Year! Lets trade!

My only post war - 1979 project is 48 thru 79 topps/bowman regular issue hof run.

Still need these topps: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=198146

I do have a couple of "junk wax era" (1980 thru now) projects I'm working on.

Mac,
Originally I was going to try to get the set in signed form, but I didn't have the patience. When the opportunity arises I do pick up signed '57's.

What has been the toughest obstacle with the set?

Andrew

For me it is the obscure players who passed away at a young age. You can't find them and when you do the price is outrageous. Don't think I will ever pick up a Clemente. I was going to get Campenella to sign with his "machine" but he passed away a few weeks before the show. Other than that I have all the HOFers signed. Also each of the team cards have been signed by a HOFer

1. Continue adding to my Mantle collection.
2. Continue adding to my Yankees photo pack collection.
3. Continue adding to my '61, '62, & '63 Post cereal panel collection.
4. Try to unload a lot of the 1987 to 2000 crap that I still have.

1. Complete my 1955 Bowman set. I need 50 cards to complete it, mostly high numbers and umpires, no star cards.
2. Pick up a couple Detroit Tiger pennants.
3. I need 14 T206's to complete my Detroit Tiger team set. Take away the four Ty Cobb cards (which I will get once I hit the lotto). So I need 10; I would like to add 5 to my collection.

Who do you need and what condition are you looking for?

Also, I recommend getting at least one Cobb. It's Cobb, the greatest Tiger ever.

I would like to raise my % complete on my Bench Master Set to #2, I think it will take more years and a lot more $ to move into the #2 ranked spot... Those two guys in front of me are bad to the bone...

I would love to find the rest of the Bench/Rose Lincoln Mercury postcards, but looks like the Rose guys have those on lock down! :)

I just finished my 59 Topps set w/ "documented" variations. My goals for this year include getting them graded by SGC and uploaded into my registry.

I want to add more cards to my Rebel Oakes PC.

Start a new post war set. Maybe 63 or 65. Leaning towards 65.

Sell off or trade the things I currently have that I'm not connected to.

Second I want to complete my 1956 Topps Baseball set of PSA 8 cards which I need 3 cards to finish.

I want to finish my Kelloggs 1970 baseball set of PSA 10. I need 1 card to complete.

I am working on several other sets that I want to put into position to finish up in 2016

I'm 39 cards short of my 1962 master set - want to complete it
I'm 3 cards shy of completing my 1961 master set - ditto above
I'm 17 cards into my 1968 Milton Bradley set, I'd like to get to 34 by year end
Finally, I'd like to pick up 10 more T206 HOF cards and at least 5 more backs for my back run.

Truth is I'll meander through collecting and my list of current projects will be doubled (at least) by the end of the year!!

Maybe I'll stick to this if I write it down... (MAYBE)
MY budget is tight. We jsut had our first baby and we are saving for a new house... so my goals aren't as exciting as some others. To each their own!

1) Upgrade all of my 1956 HOF set to all PSA 7's (10 more to go)
2) Complete the 1953 HOF set in PSA 4/5/6
3) Start a player set... Thinking about doing Clemente
