Hi All:
In looking through my Phillies 1950 Program I found the below ad for Bowman 1950 cards. Anyone notice anything missing?
Also for those into the rare stuff there was an ad for Felin Franks cards in a 1955 Phillies program. Interesting in that we are not sure if these were ever issued.
But I do have a Newspaper ad proof for Felin's in which the Ashburn, previously unchecklisted, was seen and his number verified.

Bowman states 240 cards when there actually was 252.
I also notice the Luckey Strike LS/MFT ad from the Geezer Quiz!

Good pick up Fred. But I was going somewhere else.
For those younguns among us
LS/MFT means:
Lucky Strikes Mean Fine Tobacco

I'll go for the easy answer. The Bowman name is missing.

BINGO! That is what I was driving at. Interesting that when there was no Topps competition that Bowman saw no reason to put their name on the wrapper.
I guess when you are the only game in town you feel like you don't have to.

Can anyone post a scan of a Felin's Phillies card? I have never seen an actual photo.

Here's a Spring 1951 Phillies program with a more illustrative Bowman advertisement.
There are 2 (or 3) incorrect details in it......what are they ? ?

Larry- Thanks for the link, great looking card but Wow!
Ted- 324 and no name on front, have no clue about the 6 cards for 5 cents?

Set of 324 cards is correct.
There were 6 cards in a 5-cent pack. Here is a 2-dimensional pix of my 1951 wax-pack box......

Would you like to try for the other answer to this trivia ?

Just the name being left off the front?

The two examples in this adv. are 1950 Bowman's (instead of 1951).

Here are a few other Felin's Franks cards that have gone to auction in recent years. That John Meyer card for $8K has been on eBay for a long time. LOL

Maybe they referred to a 240 card set since the 1949 set had 240, using twelve reworked variations that year from the lower numbers? Who knows? Good find though.

Who were the other 16 to be? Were they pulled due to contract issues with Topps? Maybe they can't count?
