Antique Lapel Pin

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum so go easy on me..

My grandfather recently gave this lapel pin to my father. My grandfather knows its old, back from when he was young, but other than that we really know nothing about it. My family has been in Detroit for much longer than I can remember, so I would like to believe it's a legitimate item. As such, I was told this community might be able to tell me what we have here.

Very neat item. The first i've seen like that . There are many pin collectors and tigers collectors on the board so I'm sure they will chime in.

Really neat pin. I've never seen another, but have only been collecting Tigers pins for 10 years now.

I'm wondering if it could have been issued around the baseball centennial given the theme.
