Here is something I remember thinking of as just amazing when I pieced it together as a teenager, very pre-internet.

In 1929, one city had four players finish the year batting over .350 with 30+ homeruns. (And for good measure, they nearly repeated this feat the next year.)

Without doing a search, take your guesses as to the city (for 5 points) and the players (10 points each). And to score a perfect 50, name the only other .350/30 club member that season.

STRANGE BUT TRUE: Of the four 1929 citymates, only one fiinshed in the top 10 of the MVP voting. Wow!

That's 35 points! Will see if anyone can guess the other PHI bomber or the non-PHI one.

Wow, and a 45-point response from bgar3! But no to Ruth and Gehrig. Hint: He was the MVP that year.

+ Lefty O'Doul.

Forgot about him, just like the Hall of Fame.

Yes, the Rajah! Nicely done. Oddly, there was no official MVP award in the AL that year, but Hornsby nabbed the NL.

If anyone is interested, I wrote a short essay on the .350/50 club that includes a complete list of its members.
