Just saw some T218 Mecca cards and was shocked -- just SHOCKED! -- by the resemblance between the images on T218 and 1933 Goudey. I'd almost go so far as to say that the same artist was involved in both sets, except we're talking a 23-year gap. At least there's a strong influence going on here...

The 1933 Goudeys certainly would have been more controversial had the players been painted shirtless.

Goudey's art was likely done in Boston, the Mecca's in New York at American Litho.
