I would go with the following in no particular order and also trying to change the poses up a bit.

1) e107
2) m110
3) d322 (maybe e90-2 instead)
4) w600
5) ??? maybe e92/102/105/106 throwing or an early postcard

I've always been partial to his Tip Top Bread issue. And American Caramel Die Cut.

The E103 is a great card. The M116s are nice.

And this:

Out of approximately a dozen I own, this is my favorite. Might be tough to find one though...D381

Some nice options already listed above. I would definitely get a portrait pose. Whether it's an M116, E103, E90-2 or D322.

I like the 1908 E102. It's a batting pose with a red background.

Why not spark some controversy with the Reccius Cigars card.............

e107 (very difficult and expensive)

M116 is what I'd say my #1 Wagner would be after the T206. They are just beautiful cards, both the pastel and blue. Very affordable too, a nice low graded pastel version with great eye appeal can be had for about 1K.

e90-2 is just really ugly to look at, the face is all messed up. The CJ is also kinda Ugly IMO.

The batting versions you find in e90-1, T216, etc is also I nice pose. I don't care for the throwing pose.

The M110 cabinet is incredible. I pulled one off LOTG auctions a while back and love it.

Lots of good choices. I personally love the E95 (great, haunting image), M116 (classic portrait), E90-2 (or slightly rarer E104-2 below), and any of the throwing ones- E90-1, E92, etc (think throwing captures what Wagner was- big and awkward but a total stud). Have fun in your search!

E107, e90-2, then Henry Reccius (only two known)

Also like all the Wagner PCs shown before.

This has probably been covered before, but there was always the notion that the t206 was pulled due to Wagner's stance on tobacco use. Do we know the official reason yet? Regardless, you'll note that he is noticeably absent from almost all tobacco issues from that era, despite his immense popularity and the inclusion of his teammates in the sets (t205, Helmar Stamps, etc). Hope someone can shed some light on this (or share an old link if it's been covered before).

Top 5 Wagner cards for a high end collection:

if you can find them,

E107
W600
Pittsburg Leader
Novelty Cutlery PC
T5 Pinkerton cabinet

In my opinion, true scarcity trumps grade scarcity. In my personal Wagner collection, tend to prefer photographic images over art-based images.

Good luck!

No way to know for sure.

Wagner does appear in the T216 Tobacco issues out of New Orleans, but who knows if Wagner even had knowledge of this. Whether or not his stance on tobacco use is what pulled his T206 from production is still a subject of debate, and there is no definitive answer.

I am pretty sure the T216 is the only tobacco issue he appears in but could be wrong. Anybody?

Here's the T216

There seems to be no debate amongst the biographers of Wagner. It's not that he was religiously anti-tobacco, he just didn't want to promote smoking cigarettes to kids. There is an article in a 1912 Baseball Magazine (forgot the month) where he is quoted saying that. He also sent a check for $10 to the sportswriter who was asked to get his permission for inclusion. ($10 is the amount the writer was to receive from the Tobacco company for Wagner's ok to be in the set). The holding out for more money theory does not work in any case considering the amount of candy issues he was in, clearly if any payment at all was made, it was less than players would have received from the Tobacco companies.
A contemporary comparison would be a celebrity who drinks alcohol but would not promote it in a TV commercial.
Unlikely Wagner knew about the T216 until too late to do anything about it. That said, I believe those are as rare as the T206 if not more so.
As for best Wagner cards, depending on budget I'd go with-
M110
W600 (either pose)
Orange Border (either pose)
Novelty Cutlery PC
Mike Wheat's T3 Fantasy piece ($20 on Ebay)
(I do not know MW- Just like that card)
