This card isn't identified but I believe it to Bob Ewing in spring training during his time spent with the Reds. I think it dates to about 1905...

By the way, does anyone here happen to have this card of Tom Downey?

I'd be doubtful that the PC is 1905 purely based on the back. The AZO 4 triangles up is usually very close to 1910. It has a divided back as well which would preclude it from being 1905. Just my two cents. Cool postcard, regardless.

Thanks for the info. It has to be somewhere between 1902-09 because that's when he played for the Reds.

Sure. It looks like him to me as well. Just saying that it's likely at the later end of that range than the beginning. 1907-1909 seems more likely to me. Doesn't mean the picture wasn't taken earlier but my experience is that they were printed somewhere close to when they were taken (generally).

Oops. I've been told it's Jim, not Tom. Wrong Downey.

Any idea what team this is? And the player on the left front; doesn't he seem like a pretty large fellow, almost gigantic compared to the others? Could be the lens playing tricks, just looks like an odd assortment of players to me...

It's a RPPC of the 1912 Superior Team with Dazzy Vance (top row, second from left)

Great cards, FourStrikes, one and all.
The 1933 Portland Beavers you posted inspired me to share these Beavers RPPCs from 1925-1933, missing 1927 (anyone have a spare 1927? ;) )
The autographed back is from the 1929 card.
