Wow, $80K for the McKinley U.S. Caramel card before the BP.

The consigner of the Matty W600 cabinet took a beating --$5,000 in the spring REA auction to $2,000 before the BP this time around. The same card also sold for $5K at Goodwin last year. Looks like a great deal for whoever picked it up this time around.

Interesting story on the McKinley card. That was a $10 "sale" on EBay about 6 months ago. If you google past threads you can read about the history of the card.

The signed T206 Rucker portrait went for over $5,000 with the BP. That's about twice as high as any signed T206 common has ever sold for -- the signed T206 Rucker throwing pose sold in last years Heritage Auction for about $2,700. If this is where signed T206 prices are headed, I'm going to have to bow out gracefully from the competition. :(

I know. That was one of the lots I was watching, just for that reason. :)

The seller is from Raleigh. He never shipped the $10 "sale". He bought the lot from a local collection and didn't really know what he had there. Kudos for him for hitting a jackpot, cause I'm sure the person he got the collection from received nowhere near that.

Low condition, 2K was the real value before either one of those auctions and it came back to reality.

There fortunately wasn't anything I couldn't live without so I went to sleep relatively early. One bid held so we will all get to read some more Card Collector Bulletins pretty soon. I would have liked to pay a little less but there is some demand for them.

Nice pick up Leon! Look forward to reading the posts!!

The T206 prices seemed all over the map. It looks like the true rarities (only graded examples, highest graded, severe miscut, auto, etc..) are still selling for big premiums, but the mid-range backs seem to be coming back to earth. I was particularly surprised that the 150 only subjects with brown Hindu backs didn't go for more in most cases. Very happy to pick up the Red Ames Hands at Chest. One of my favorite poses in the set.
