There is a recolored 1958 Aaron yellow name version (item #251639638379) for sale on Ebay for $400 right now and graded 7.5 by BVG. It is colored in with a marker and pretty obvious from the scan. How it got by BVG is hard to figure. But save your money and get a real one. Tried to message seller but it would not let me.

I don't have any sort of horse in this race, but I downloaded the auction photo and played with the color balance of 'yellow' to see what we could learn. Here's the result…

Based on this, you can easily see how the yellow (basically the bright green in the image) seems to be all crazy-scribbled-in around Hank's name and not at all what a professional print job would look like. Take it for what it's worth.

I could be wrong, but this same card was sold raw a few weeks ago and was correctly labeled by the seller as recolored. How it got past the BVG grader or graders is a little scary. They did not even color in the lines. Why does Ebay block me from asking this seller a question? I did not know you could do that.

Cripes, that is ridiculous.
A "make your own" YL variation.

Pretty damning evidence, always didn't trust BVG this just confirms what I knew already

Seller is just blocking all questions on the altered Aaron card. I am guessing they know it is altered. All you have to do is go to one of their other auctions and they will let you send the seller a question.

I think this is the card you're referring to. If so, different cards.

Crappy service from BVG.

It is also surprising (okay, maybe not so surprising based on the overlooking of the coloring) that a card with such corner wear would end as a 7.5.

Hi David,
That was the one I was thinking of but looking at it again it is much nicer than the graded one. What a waste of a nice Aaron.

I gave that second card similar treatment in photoshop and here's the result…

It has similar features to the Aaron in question, but actually much less scribbling/coloring in of yellow. A cynic would say they did a much more professional job of being deceptive.

They holdered a clearly recolored Turkey red as well. I have very little faith in them

This card is now at auction and ends in a couple of hours. Last time I checked it was up to $185. I want to feel sorry for the winner, but it is so obviously fake that I have to think they know.

I would never buy a BVG card.
