Can anyone give me an opinion on good ol' Shufflin Phil Douglas? I cannot find an exemplar of his that I can trust. I received this GPC along with many of his personal effects. The other side has a child's handwriting...if this is an example of his signature he may have been teaching a grandchild how to write perhaps? Using this as like a scrap piece of paper.

Thanks for any help.

Those 2 don't look remotely similar

There is no way I could say this is authentic based on that exemplar. But there are some similarities that lead me to not dismiss it either.

1. The fat P leading into the attached h.

2. The larger than usual space between first and last name.

3. The stop and restart between the g and the l.

4. The upslant after the s.

So not the good news I was hoping for but a few unique identifiers to keep hope alive anyway.

Here is a scan of my 1921 double signed Phil Douglas autograph. I know it is earlier than your example but I hope it helps you.

Wow! That one gives me a lot more hope. Thank you both for posting these!
