Any thoughts on this one?

Or how about this one? I don't know his sig well enough.

They share the general pattern of Chuck's autograph, but these are the first examples of C.D.'s autographs I've seen that were not perfectly legible, with untypically indistinct smaller case letters.

The ones I've seen that were irrefutably IP signatures (and I've seen examples that comprised a wide time period) were very legible with better penmanship. These look shaky and non-descript by comparison.

While I wouldn't rule out the possibility of these two cards being genuine, I would pass for better examples if I was not completing a signed set, subset, or Dressen career signed set of cards.

Looking at these images made me nervous about the above two cards which are JSA auction house letter authenticated.

The two cards you posted are obviously, later in life examples, which is important to note. The last two are an index and gpc earlier in life.

I've seen 1960s acquired Dressen IPs that exhibited no signs of deterioration, post-heart attack signatures, from when he returned to the field (1965/1966) and their legibility remained intact.

Stanesq, did you pick up either Dressen signed Topps card in last night's Clean Sweep session ? If not, I would not be surprised to see either, or the signed 1965 high number show up on Quality Autographs and Memorabilia of Virginia website in the coming weeks. Kevin has an eye for tougher signed gumcards and has acquired items from Clean Sweep auctions before.

I suspect the 1965 Topps hi number was alittle rich for both of us. But given the late season distribution and limit number of these cards signed by Dressen, it did not surprise me.

Personally, I thought the 1966 Topps card sold quite low, but I have no one to blame but myself. I set a fairly low max bid due to the inconsistancies in the signature. As noted by another Net54 member, Dressen'ss signature remained fairly strong even after his heart attack. Could have been issues with the pen I suppose. Missed opportunity; perhaps. But today is a new day.

Not sure about those. But good a time as any to show my example for comparison. Signed Kashin:

Hex, I did not pick up either. I received an email from someone else who I trust who said the 1964 was a definite no go and the 1966 was question able at best and that neither would be slabbed by PSA.

By the way, that 1966 if slabbed would easily bring $500 to $750 I would have to think. He was a good signer as I understand it, but that is a second series card which would have been issued probably in April, giving him 4 months to sign it.

I'm still looking for signed 1973 Topps Clemente, and 1964 Topps Ken Hubbs cards. Still no luck after decades of beating the bushes!

Maybe I'll have to start paying more attention to Coach's Corner auctions to harpoon my white whales. :D
