The Topps version has a variation (loop and no loop). I have OPC with no loop, is there an OPC with loop?

I doubt it, there are extremely few variations in the 60's-70's OPC sets. About the only one that I am aware of is 1971 OPC #27 Pirates Rookie Stars which can be found with "Pirates" in either yellow or red.

The 69 Mantle Checklist had two variations, so it wouldn't shock me if this one did.

He's asking about OPC, not Topps. The 1969 #429 Mantle checklist is not in the 1969 OPC set, it only went up to #218. The OPC cards were printed later in the year in Canada and almost always contained only the corrected cards that were variation cards from the Topps sets from earlier the same year.

Sorry, I meant to say 1967 (it has been a really long time since I've purchased any Topps or OPC cards). The 1967 second series checklist has at least two variations - with a dot or with a line for McCauliffe's name. The only supposed variation for the card that I have not seen is where the period is completely missing but have not seen that for the Topps sent either.

My point is simply that there is at least one minor error that was corrected in parallel with the Topps set, so it would not shock me if there were more. Not sure how the printing process varied over the years though.

I have not seen this variation (or other variations in the 65-early 70s OPC sets that exist in the Topps sets) in the building of my OPC sets(a very slow process). I agree with Cliff that there are limited variations due to the timing of the printing, but also because of significantly smaller print runs for OPC cards versus Topps cards (OPC's print runs were between 1-5% of Topps print runs).

There is another OPC variation that I had forgotten about, 1971 OPC #144 Jackie Hernandez can be found with Pirates in either yellow or red just like the 1971 OPC #27 Pirates Rookies Stars card. If anyone knows of any other variations in the 1965 through 1980 OPC sets please let me know. The 1981 OPC set can be found with either gray backs or white backs.

Not that anybody asked, but here are scans of the only 1965-1980 OPC variation cards that I know of.

Nice cards. Now I'll have to break out my OPC mantle checklists...
