View Full Version : T206 Gabby Street backrun
Hi guys. I've been working on this Street back run for about a year, and I want to show my progress thus far. I'm still missing the Red Hindu, Lenox and Piedmont 42 backs (I just missed out on a Pied 42 in the last REA auction, but someone with deep pockets really wanted that one :( ).
I am posting these scans as best I can. Sorry for the format, but I can't produce those nifty grids like Chris, Jaime and Wonka.
I know, I plan to crossover the Broadleaf 460 to SGC, I just haven't gotten around to it.
Thanks to Mike Sarno for the Drum. :):):)
Mike R. please post your back run in this thread when you return from vacation.

If anyone owns a Red Hindu, Lenox or Piedmont 42 and wishes to sell and /or trade, please contact me. I can offer you a similar back in trade if you require one for your own back run.

Sean,
great run of Gabby's! I worked on the Gabby Portrait and Catching back run a few years back and stopped at the Drum... (Never got the broad leaf or red hindu among a few others...)
Congrats, J

Congrats on the Cycle 460. First time I'm viewing this thread....great run!!
Vincent and David, thank you so much. I actually got the BL 460 about nine years ago, and when I got the Drum last June I decided to try for the entire run. :)

Sean, congrats on your progress so far. Did you ever finish your Merkle run?
Never get tired of seeing Jamie and Chris's back runs...sweet indeed!
Leon, Wonka and Jaime, thanks, and thank you for posting your runs Chris and Jaime.
By the way Jaime, I didn't realize that you got a blank back. Nice going. :)

Thanks Mike.
No, I never finished Merkle. I'm missing a Red Cross Type-1.
And I recently found out that there is a Coupon Type-3, Factory 8 overprint Merkle as well, so now I'm missing two Merkles. :(

My Lajoie Throwing Run (although not as extensive as most of the others shown) is to my knowledge complete. Just recently purchased the Brown Hindu from a boardmember. (Thanks again).
Still waiting to see if someone finds a Sovereign 350 Lajoie Throwing some day.
Oops, in looking at the run, I realize I left out the SC 150/30 card, but have that as well. Dave
Dave, thanks for posting. Even if your run isn't quite as extensive, it's still fun to look at it. Good job. :)
I'm bumping my old thread because I got a few new cards (scans to follow shortly) and also to ask if anyone has a Lenox / Street Catching which they would be willing to trade or sell?
I also need a Hindu Red, Piedmont 42, and Red Cross, but I'm not holding my breath on those. :D

Okay, here it is (with some help from Zach). I've added a brown/yellow scrap, thanks to Chris, and a slight ghost image (color shift) with a heads-up from Michael R. .
Still looking for that Lenox...

like I said....so glad you got that STREET YELLOW BROWN! I was starting to feel guilty owning mine!
since there are only three yellow/brown sc 460 fact #30's Streets known to exist!!! you and I own one...one more left out there that we know of...
as you know, that front back/ combo doesn't exist! in order to have a complete run, and bring you run to a different level, you need the error back if the player was available on that scrap sheet! that card is the the "cherry on top"
congrats my friend! I AM JEALOUS OF YOUR COLLECTION!:D;)
Plank Scrap, Tinker over print front sov, insane scrap, merkle run, street run, pirate cards WTF!:D:).....I'm experiencing collection ENVY:D
please leave me in your will!!lol.....along with Leon...:D
Leon doesn't mind leaving the Matty proof or the Mullaney "rosetta stone of scrap" to me if the time comes.....:D
OH wait! I was dreaming.....:D
Great cards everyone - I never get tired of seeing back runs! I will keep my eyes open for the missing few.
Hi guys. Thanks for the kind words. And Johnny, before you get jealous consider this:
Most of my best cards were acquired through sheer luck.
That Plank scrap? I was the underbidder on three other Planks, and finally decided that I was going all in on the next one. Lucky for me, it turned out to be a unique card.
The Merkle run? I lucked into that one when I picked up a Merkle Uzit on ebay, then followed up a year later by getting the Merkle Brown Lenox. It was only after stumbling into those two that I decided to go for the rest of the run. And the Merkle Piedmont 42? I bought the first Piedmont that I found on ebay. It was only after I received the card that I noticed that it was a Factory 42.
The Pirate? Okay, that was a great pick up. But I've had a few big f' ups as well. None of which I wish to describe now. :o

Well done my friend! I'm in the similar situation.....I have just had great luck and a great eye over the years.....there are a lot I regret letting go like you did
GREAT JOB!
I can now enjoy my yellow brown street thanks to Chris;).......felt too guilty before:D
Johnny, here's the rest of the story about your Street scrap:
You got the card from Goodwin (I think) in June 2013. That same night I was negotiating with Mike S. to buy his Street/ Drum. We agreed at about 10PM EST.
After that, I talked to Chris about the card. I told him that I already had a Street/ BL460, so I might as well do a back run. He mentioned the scrap that was for sale that very night, but it was too late to make an initial bid.
I learned later that you got the scrap. If I had made the deal with Mike one day earlier we would have been bidding against each other.
I'm glad it worked out the way it did. :)
