Coach's thinks there's possibly a Honus Wagner T-206 in this unopened Piedmont cigarette pack:

http://www.myccsa.com/lot/260/1909-11-piedmont-cigarettes-unopened-possible-t-206-bb-card.aspx

LOL. That pack looks to be 1950s to 1960s era. It might even have a Surgeon General's Warning on the side panel.

I noticed the phrase "Liggett Group Inc" on the front of the pack.

Directly from the Liggett Group Wikipedia Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liggett_Group)

"The company again changed its name in 1976 to Liggett Group, Inc., with Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company as a division."

Yikes.

+1

If the winner wants to double their odds though, I have this Powerball ticket available. It's good in any state, with equal odds of winning.

OP here.

I'm a NJ attorney, and am putting in a call tmrw to a friend who works at the Bucks County PA district attorney's office.

I do believe this listing crosses the line into common law fraud. The side panel of that pack, per the above poster who said Liggett Group, Inc did not come about until the 1970s, must have a Surgeon General's Warning. Here's an identical pack for sale now on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1960s-Piedmont-Sealed-Unopened-Cigarette-Pack-/181436358192?pt=US_Cigarettes&hash=item2a3e731e30

The operators of Coach's really need to be arrested and charged asap. They clearly engage in "willfull blindness" at the very least, and one assumes it is Coach's staff and not the consigners who write the auction listing copy.

the bid is $77.
a LE agency will not go after a $77 fraud.
let it sell at a higher price and maybe you will have a shot.

Chris, I watched some of your vids today again. Its so disgusting, esp how Taylor never took u up on challenges

I have come to a decision, they have NO consignors. its a big operation, fake moron "authenticator", some people who go out and buy old paper and books and albums to use the paper for cuts. Thank you got the actual forgers. I have a feeling this would be awesome and shockingly big if ever busted.

I mean, naivity is gone. Sholess Joe signed ball, looks like it was done today? SO BAD and the usual crap. Coach's commode. where the CRAP IS

Scott, I agree.

I do believe they have had the same consignors for years.

I actually email Ted Taylor every couple months.

His last reply to me was "You'll always be a jerk."

And I replied with "Ted, and you'll always be on Ebay's Banned COA list."

It's okay, Scott. I accepted Ted's "jerk" comment as a compliment coming from him.

He (Ted Taylor) has left quite a legacy of himself for his family to remember him by.

He should be ashamed of himself.

He comes across as a sincere member of the hobby while at the same time "authenticating" thousands of forgeries.

Agree 100% with the "no consigners" theory. Bet they simply troll flea markets and such and buy old books, Xmas cards, etc to forge.

Ever notice how many Babe Ruth, Christy Mathewson etc inscribed Xmas cards they offer every month? Check out this turd:

These asshats could run out a Jesus of Nazareth signed head of John the Baptist (Styrofoam of course) and the LE still would do nothing.

The "Ruth" ball is up over $2k if that is big enough to warrant someone looking into it.

As over the top as CC is with autographs, how do they not have J.D. Salinger or Steve Jobs autographed baseballs? Perhaps Salinger paired with Harper Lee on a dual-signed ball. ;)

I used to wonder who was dumb enough to bid in their auctions, then once about two years ago a Christy Mathewson signed ball showed up on the local Craiglist. It looked strait of the a CC auction and sure enough I checked the last auction and it was lot # 4000 and something. I emailed the seller just to screw with him and see how much he wanted for it (it closed at CC for $200). He wanted 10k. That wasn't surprising. What was surprising was that the name affixed to the return email was that of my in-law's neighbor, a well-to-do business owner.

I hear the way they get away with it is that anytime anyone has any question, reservation or problem, they refund their money without an issue or hassle. They probably do it because they know they have serious expose. I have a friend who has amassed quite a collection of auto cuts from CC...kind of feel sorry for him.

That is their game.
Almost everything they do is "their opinion" or another company or person's opinion, which is difficult to prosecute in a court of law. I think it will be karma that eventually gets them, one way or the other. A person or company can't do that many bad things and get away with it completely.

The number of times you do something matters. If you leave a banana peal on the kitchen floor and someone slips on it, it's believable when you say it wan an accident. If you leave a banana peal on the floor twenty different times and twenty people slip on them, a judge will no longer believe it was accidental.

People say the police won't go after fraud if it involves only $25. But realize that 1,000 fraudulent sales of $25 each is $25,000.

The FTC is currently legally charging a phone company over a $9.99 overcharge on bills. The company is accused of the practice of bill padding, or trying to sneak under the radar a small surcharge for dubious or non-existent services. The bogus surcharges in bill padding are usually intentionally small so the customer doesn't notice, and the relative few customers who do notice and complain to the phone company often get individual refunds. The FTC isn't legally charging because a customer was overcharged $9.99. They're bringing the suit because customers were overcharged millions of dollars-- $9.99 at a time.

It can be safe to assumed that FTC will argue that if a single customer correctly points out to a company that a charge on his bill is bogus and illegal, it is not enough to refund just that customer. You have to refund everyone who paid that charge. And once it has been pointed to the company out that the charge is illegal, the company certainly can't continue to bill the charge. A company can perhaps reasonably argue ignorance over previous charges, but not for charges after it was informed and refunded the customers who complained.

The phone company has objected to the suit. Not because they say they didn't do the illegal practice-- they admit to doing it--, but because they say they already fixed the billing problem on their own.

Duly note that phone companies are a federally regulated industry and may have more and different rules and laws to follow than other industries.

Doesn't every one of us call and complain to law enforcement and local da every time they run an auction. they may finally get tired of all the complaints and department time being tied up with these frauds that they actually decide to do something about it.

Glyn,

I feel if we do that, the local law enforcement will just add a prompt on their phone, something like:

"If you're calling about Coaches Corner Auctions, please leave a message" :D
