I'm not too familiar with the earlier Mantle autographs, but it looks solid.

Looks great, maybe 1954-1956ish on the signature.

Nice early signature as long as it is actually signed in ink and not some kind of pre print copy. I know you said it was signed in ballpoint and it is personalized, but the photo is small to tell any detail like that. Nice item

It's 1955-56

We know it's not a 1951 or 1953, as Jimmy Spence has authenticated these two, which look nothing like yours, and he is never wrong with Mantles (one on left is a genuine Spence 1953, one on the right is a genuine Spence 1951). I had the auction house ask him to take a 2nd look at the 1953 one and he was positive it was legit, so please - no arguing about this.

Thankx for all the info...this is my 1st signature/photo. Actually i am having it sent to JSA for a LOA, since the AH will be able to do it in person this week. I talked to the AH and clearly stated about any stickers will be placed on the back, if one is placed.
You may ask why? just re-assurance. I know you guys are great at spotting these items in a instance. And i thank you all. And thanks for giving a close date approximation as well.
I will update with a larger photo, when it does come back in 3-4 weeks or so.

@DuluthEskimo....i copied the AH photo, and this is all it will allow me to post. The AH does claim it was blue ball point pen and should pass PSA/DNA.
Unkess theres a way to enlarge the photo, Please tell me, if its a simple crop or size..I use PhottoBucket...lets see if it works

Next, i will crop just the signature part, maybe it will be enlarged enough to see better

Your Mantle signature is beautiful - it is almost an exact duplicate of the one on my 1956 team-signed ball.

Hi Chris,

I've seen the exact photo without a signature, so I don't think you have to worry about it being a preprinted copy. It is a beauty, and I am glad you were able to pick it up.

It's crazy the one on the right is real. I'm no Mantle expert by any means, but that's a whole lotta of M's!

No argument from me, Scott.

I already opined that Mantle is authentic.
