My dad has asked for my assistance in helping sell some items and I don't know where to start. There is a catcher's mask, a chest protector and a pair of cleats. Can anyone help in dating these 3 items and give me some range of value? Any help would be greatly appreciated and the items will be on the B/S/T shortly for anyone who may be interested.
Thanks in advance,
Tony

Nice stuff...

Mask is 1890s - 1900s. Value approx $175 - $200 (desirable style w/chin protector / would be worth more if all pads were present)

Chest Protector is 1920s - 1930s. Value approx $125 - $150

Cleats appear to be circa 1930s - 1940s. Value approx $50 - $75

Hope this helps!

Looks a lot like the ones my great grandpa patented as Armor for Baseball Players in 1908. He later said he couldn't afford to enforce the patent against copycats, however, so he sold the patent for a relative pittance to either Rawlings or Spalding (I can't remember which). Which is why I am not rich.

By the way, can anyone recommend a good way to store/display an old catcher's chest protector? I have a kids' size one from 1913 (see photo) and I'd like to find a way to preserve it as much as possible.Suggestions?

Just display it the way you like best, and keep it away from Direct Sunlight, Dust, Kids, Pets, and Ex-wives (not necessarily in that order).

It should be fine otherwise
