This card falls beneath my exacting standards...I insist that my cards have at least 10% of the front still intact.

I'm impressed with the detective work to determine that it is actually Elberfeld fielding.

I bought my first Ruth photo for $20 this one was a bit more but wanted to get something of Ruth when he was still with the Red Sox.

This is a Underwood & Underwood Type 1 from Sept. 12, 1919 just before being traded to the Yankees. What is also cool is that he played that day of the photo stamp and went 2-4 with 2 rbi's

I was watching that for a year or so. I almost made a offer but the price was way to high. It's a nice photo but I think went for way to much (no offense) but still a cool pick up

Nice Keeler. I have been looking for an affordable one if those for quite some time.

I was too, as you probably know some OM examples are so much harder to find than others (some haven't even been discovered yet). This is only the 5th or 6th Keeler (batting) Old Mill that I've ever seen come up for sale. Haven't seen any other examples graded higher than a 3.5, so most are lower grades to begin with. There's a couple other 1 grade examples floating around out there, hopefully one pops up for you ;)

My latest pick-up, a 1917 Boston Red Sox team RPPC taken at Hot Springs, Ark. on March 5, 1917 and subsequently mailed two days later, on March 7, 1917. Although the player images are small. Babe Ruth is easily identifiable. I will begin working on the rest of the players.......

Brad - cool Ted Williams PC.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a George Burke PC w/ an AZO stamp box on back. They usually have Kodak stamp boxes. According to Playle, this particular stamp box style dates it from 1926-40s...so congrats on the great contemporary Williams PC!

Thanks Derek! I heard from another board member (Lance, who is a wealth of info on Burke and just a nice guy) that he has handled thousands of Burke photos but only about a dozen or so AZO Burke postcards. So I guess it is a bit of a scarce find. I sort of assumed I overpaid for the postcard because I liked it but now I'm hearing I may have gotten a good deal. We'll see when I send it in to PSA to have it authenticated.

AZO Burke pc's can be found on the early cards, prior to the Kodak ones. Much more desirable in my opinion. I would also bet money your Williams auto is legit, these were popular items to get signed...

Here's a really cool C.1930's Photograph of Jimmie Foxx hunting with Red Sox teammates Lefty Grove, Pinky Higgins and team owner Tom Yawkey.

What makes this special is the players in this photo have been identified in Jimmie Foxx's own hand, making this a partial signature since he wrote his own name!

I picked this up to go with the postcard I own. Don't know much about them but for a small price thought it was a cool companion piece. Anyone know if these were printed later on or during the current news period of the time? Any info would be nice to have.

All.. This piece is not legit just in case you should come across it again. It was mentioned in a thread on the memorabilia side some time back. It has been floating around for awhile. Sellers keep passing the buck rather than removing from circulation. Greed blows. You know who you are and so do I.
I am sorry you got a lemon here. I hope the seller does not resell. Item in question attached.

I tried to tell the buyer the same thing but he was convinced it was legit. I remember this piece was discussed awhile ago and was deemed fake. The original seller had it listed for a very long time

No problem man. There so many sellers on ebay who dont know anything about the type system or what they have. Alot of them will swear they have the real deal but in reality they just saw some stamp on the back and assume they know. Us photo collectors have to stick together..lol

No... Brad purchased it from the latest seller/owner. I just wanted to make sure this pickup(in this thread) wouldn't suggest the piece was legit for future sales.

Howe’s Hunter
05-13-2014, 12:06 PM
They come in spurts. May go a couple months without seeing one, then six show up within a couple of days of each other. My guess would be about one and a half cards a month over the last two years or 36 in the last two years. Maybe slower than the first couple of years when I got started, but not grinding to a halt for any extended period of time. Within weeks or months, there will be two more to post, besides the ones that just show up like this one.

CB,

Sorry to hear your kid had a fever-- those are rough nights. Yeah, a rare deal at Heritage. I think it might've been outshined by some of their more primo offerings. I put it up against the 3s and 4s on VCP before bidding and only one 4 had it beat. The centering really struck me from first sight. Usually has pretty rugged tilt and OC.

Cool postcard but I'm not so sure of the ID although the time is about right for Bing being at Gonzaga. Bing had some seriously distinct looking "attached" earlobes and the player in the postcard definitely doesn't appear to have his ears.

Sorry, no scanner yet, guys, but picked up a near perfectly centered 1936 R312 Mize in ungraded VG just a couple of days ago. Highly underrated slugger, who would likely have had 450-480 career homers had he not lost 3 full years to WWII, .312 lifetime average, and a career OPS+ of 156, right there with Willie Mays!

Best regards always,

Thanks to a board member for the addition of the Harry Sutor 1911 Zeenut to my collection. Now looking for the D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit #64 Harry Sutor (and when I am a little richer, the T5 Pinkerton, the T4 Obak Premium, and the Western Playground Association). Also added a decent Addie Joss E90-1. Am I happy? You bet!

Crackerjack crazy. Love that set. Well last night I jumped in and snagged this 38 Goudey for my set off of Sterling. I missed out on a few 34's on ebay but went a bit higher than I was looking to spend.

Don't add too many Gibsons to my collection these days, so I'm thrilled to get this W501 from the BST (thanks again Brian):

<img border="0" width="400" src="http://www.collectorfocus.com/images/show/georgegibson/baseball-cards/18120/1922-w501" />

Also picked up the ever elusive Sovereign 460 Gibson back as I stretch to keep my T206 back run going:

The latest addition to my steadily growing T202 collection.

The Philadelphia Athletics infield, featuring Hall of Famers Frank "Home Run" Baker and Eddie Collins, as well as Harry Davis and Jack Barry.

This is the core of the group that would come to be known as the $100,000 infield starting in 1911, when a younger Stuffy McIinnis replaced Harry Davis at first base. It's my belief that McInnis should have gotten more Hall of Fame consideration than he received.

I got a great price on this, as the little "47" stamp on the middle panel's back lowered the overall score. The card itself is quite beautiful though.

Thank you, Marty.

I know that the grade is technically correct, but I feel that this is a fine example of how a mark can actually enhance a card's overall appeal. It adds character to it. It's a subtle reminder that this card is a part of history.

So I snagged two more for my set last night from eBay. I'm only 10 away from completing one of my goals this year. Very excited that I'm almost at the half way point. I really have to start picking away at some of the bigger names though.

Got this in the mail today... highest graded version...not bad, huh? P.S. That black dot above the "M" in DiMaggio is on the scan and not really on the card. Wondering what would make this a 80/6 and not higher...

.....just upgraded the type 3 borderless ; HELP NEEDED : I seem to remember within the last couple of years a board member listing an elderly relative's shortish wantlist , a father-in-law or grandfather perhaps , and this borderless version of the photo/card was on it.....if you know the board member I'm referring to could you please contact him and let him know about this and I'm sure we'll get something done......it's been a while and gosh I hope we are not too late but a wantlist for any senior collector is a big deal to this board , I'm sure. Thanks , MikeGarcia

The label is a little off-center left to right but the card is decent so I purchased the slab anyway. ;)
